Panchakanya - The Five Virgins From Ramayan And Mahabharat
The Panchakanya (the five virgins) are female characters in the two great epics of India, Ramayana and Mahabharata. Each of them is described as extraordinarily beautiful and virtuous. The literal meaning of 'kanya' means ‘girl’, ‘maiden’ or 'virgin'. Although the five women are all married, sometimes with multiple men, this was the word chosen to depict them instead of the word nari (woman) or sati (chaste wife), which was then questioned by scholars. However, the word was chosen because tradition says that the purity of their characters are so strong, that nothing could corrupt their spiritual powers.
Panchakanya is also the one who owned their virginity and could revive it. This power owing to their Chastity among them was majorly the result of leading a pious, rightful, and responsible life in thought, in word, and in action thereby the purest and most sincere of conduct even in the most challenging of times.In fact, their very names are believed to ensure salvation and freedom from evil. The Pancha Kanyas are Ahalya, Draupadi, Sita (Kunti), Tara and Mandodari. Ramayana portrays Ahalya, Tara, Mandodari, and Sita, while Draupadi and Kunti are from the Mahabharata. Sita and Kunti are often replaced by each other according to people’s beliefs.

Mahabharat of Rishi Ved Vyas Ji, available in 6 volumes by Gita Press Gorakhpur, Had both original Sanskrit shlokas and their Hindi translations.

The video doesn’t seem well researched though the intention behind it doesn’t seem malignant. 1. Valmiki Ramayana is called authentic for a reason. Reason being Valmiki existed in the same time period as Rama and Sita. 2. Valmiki Ramayana has no mention of Rama’s aides mistreating Mandodari nor of any yagna being performed by Ravana 3. Draupadi never insulted Duryodhana 4. Women have never been instigators of the wars(Ramayana and Mahabharata) 5. Vanara Customs and rituals were very different from the human customs rituals. Kings widow could marry the next king if she wished so. Sugriva and Tara were married because it was believed Vali is dead, with Tara’s consent.
