And that wraps up our series! If you stuck around till the end, thanks so much for watching! Let me know what you think about the final presentation. I should note that I made a few alterations on the final image that weren't on the video: - Increased the Contrast - Adjusted the Colors to turn the darker areas a bit more blue - Added a rim light around the edges of the bags to help separate them from the background - Darkened the edges of the images to bring more focus to the bags

I really loved this series! You're one of the few designers that can really articulate why you make each of your design choices. It's also great to see you doing design styles outside of just the minimalism that's rampant on graphic design KZread.

Please never stop these! The 5 minute videos are so great for quickly understanding your approach but these videos have bridged the gaps in the interface as well! Learnt so many cool tricks and tips to actually be able to execute the ideas. The final mock up just looks heavenly. To think that pancake mix can look so good, ooof

I’ve never been so satisfied watching someone make a pancake mix cover.
Naturally, I went to Google shopping to see if they accepted and used your design... but they don't appear to be a real brand. What I did find, however, are a collection of TERRIBLY designed packages of pancake mix by every brand! Your design wins, hands down!
Great series! I'm a packaging graphic artist here in the UK. Obvs this is just for show but If only you'd have that much space on the back for the directions in the real world!! By the time you factor in the nutritional table, the bar code (UPC) area (which both have a standard sizes), the romance copy, the weight, the company contact details (URL's etc), the non print areas etc, you're lucky if you've a third of that space!

Oh man, this is by far the most informative and entertaining design video I've ever come across. You got me worried every time you add a new layer/element thinking it already looked great and you don't need it but shortly after you get it there I'm like wow, did not see that coming. Love your channel, waiting on your next video.

So happy you liked it! Worked really hard on this series, and I'm glad so many people found it helpful. More videos coming very soon :)
Totally amazing! I’m so blown away! You showed me that combining different photos and elements isn’t supposed to be so difficult as a make it sometimes. I hope there would be more “long explanatory” videos in the future! Also I would love to see a video all about understanding light and how it affects objects.

So happy you liked it, Gabi! I think that vast majority of the time, it just comes down to finding the right assets at the right angles (and generally spending a long time doing so lol). Will certainly make more of these longer videos in the future. And I've had several other people say they'd like a video about lighting/shading, so I'll put that one in the pipeline for the near future!
It has been absolute pleasure to watch this series. Please do more long-form designs like this.
Woah! Every time I think its complete, you add another detail and I ask myself how did I not see that? Brilliant, brilliant work Brandon!

Nice! Would love to see how you go from here to prepare the file for printing. The technical part of packaging design is usually overlooked, so it would be great if you can cover the whole process from conception to execution and delivering the ready-to-print file. Thanks Brandon! 😊

Bumping this ! I was about to comment on that. You've designed on top of the packaging, so I assume there are some awkward-looking corners hanging outside the paper bag shape that wouldn't fly if copy pasted onto the flat print-ready template. Also CMYK is uhhgggh......

I'd be interested to see this too... Photoshop mock-ups are amazing for visualization, but how does that convert to the Print Industry template standards that are required for offset printing (bleed, overprint, etc.)?

The only reason I’m pointing this out is because everything else is so spot on perfect: the text in some areas doesn’t bend with the crease of the paper bag like it would in real life, and everything else is so realistic this stands out. Also the top of the pile of powder in the spoon can use some more realistic edges, it kinda looks cut out.. other than that, this is genius, you are genius, I love all of your designs and overall style
I loved this! It's great to see the extensive process and how you utilize Photoshop. I would love to see more videos like this if it's not too time consuming for you 😁

whenever i had critiques, you removed the need to seconds after. Great job!
This is the first time I subscribed and liked WHEN A KZreadR ASKED ME TOO!!😊😊 This looks SOO good!❤ You are talented!👍🏼
Something I've learned from observing the world, light can reflect off of everthing, and leaves the color of the reflection on the shadows of the closest object, like how the powder would maybe leave a white reflection in the shadows of the bags. It's kinda like how shadows outside are blue in tone on sunny days, it's because of the blue sky being reflected into the shadows. I'd imagine in this scene the shadows would be rather dark but get a saturation of the surrounding color in the lighter areas of the shade, so brown would be the predominant color, with some white near the mix.
Absolutely perfect. I was mesmerized watching these 3 videos. Thumbs up!
