Coffee Bar Packaging | Inside an Agency’s Packaging Design Process
We continue to receive requests about our packaging design creative process at Farm Design. In this video, we will be sharing a case study from START to FINISH for our client Big Island Coffee Roasters!
Among the many objectives for this project, one of the most important was to communicate that this product is entirely made of coffee! That’s right, this is NOT chocolate bar packaging… this is a full-blown caffeinated endeavor that we are excited to share with you!

@@DoGoodWork Is it possible I can work as an intern for you guy's?
I don't know if you know how valuable this type of info is for a beginner designer. Helped me improve my process a lot. It actually answered the question that was troubling me the most as a self taught beginner graphic designer: "How the hell do you come up with creative, unique, good looking design that works?" I'm happy to know that it's not about being a creative genius, it's about the iterative process. Lots of communication, lots of research and lots of iterations.

Thanks a lot Farm Design, giving me a valuable lesson from your process! You guys are awesome!

Tremendous video. Thank you for sharing your process!
I'm soooo impressed by the amazing designs you guys made, so inspirational! Thanks for sharing!
This is a fantastically knowledgeable video - thank you SO much, guys! I don't know if it's too much to ask, but is there any version of the "Brand Questionnaire" you could share with the rest of us? Even if it's a toned-down pdf-downloadable version? I mean even the snippets of the one you've got in this video are incredibly informative and give us viewers (and I firmly believe I speak for more than just myself!) SO much information and so much to go on. That alone would be a design god-send :) x
Thank you for spending the time to make this video, I really enjoyed it. It's nice to see the process you guys go through to create your designs. Makes me excited to be a packaging designer!

It is hard today to find clients that value and appreciate this type of quality level work, great stuff, a lot business owners, not just designers need to take note and learn from this. Great video!
Excellent video! Provides great insight of the (real) methodology in a such didactic way. I will showcase this video for my graphic design students, so that they hopefully grasp a bit more of the design process! Keep up the awesome work (physical & online)!

I like this a lot! Gave a lot of insight into the process!
This is just GOLDEN!
Thank you for sharing this video! It's soo helpful, and I love your end results!
A good video indeed! I had the video shared in my packaging class with my students and most of them guessed the correct design that the client will go with!
YOU SHOW THAT DESIGNER NOT ONLY DESIGN , BUT ALSO A VALUE-FINDER/SEEKER/ RESEARCHER, AN ILLUSTRATOR OF IDEAS... IT IS AMAZING
Just amazing! I love the video, thanks for all the content
You guys are awesome ! Thanks for the video .
Awesome to see the process & outcome..
Cool video! I'd love to see one that goes in-depth about designing templates.
Amazing! Really enjoyed the process!
Best content as far as packaging design is concerned. Just loved it. And I love your logo
Absolutely fascinating. Really enjoyed and appreciate this detailed insight into your work and process. I particularly like the fact that you wireframe content at the start, I do this for web but not for packaging... don't know why! Again, thank you for a great video, lots to think about.
This video actually made me excited and i had to call my friend to tell them about it. I wish my work was like this. Having meetings and group discussions and drawing out ideas is considered a waste of time and money. Its a heres what you have to do get it done asap kind of place.
As a new packaging designer I learn a lot from the video, this is the best process I ever saw. I will apply this process to my design. Your design process is really amazing. Thanks a lot for your great tutorial.
Great video! Thanks for the behind the scenes sneak peek.
Subscribed. I teach HS Art/Graphic Design in Hong Kong and this has such great value for me and my students on many aspects, particularly the research and variety of final options for the client. I'll have to look back and see what other goodies you've already posted, but thank you!
Amazing video! Cant wait to see more of these.
I love this creative process ♥️
Amazing process :) greetings from Bolivia
Such a valuable video!!! Thank you Soo much for it! Best of luck with your work!!!💗
Fantastic! Your job and effort and professionbality is stunning :) I´m an architect and I´m thinking how to implement the "brand design" process and methods into residential, family houses or dwelling in general. I believe that everything starts from need and emotions, like you did. I used to start as well with moodboards (material, feelings and brief). Then go down to drawings, understand proportions and spaces, draft 1 - 2 - 3 options and so on. I believe I can learn a lot merging the brand design´s world with families housing. I would love to hear from you and from your community :)
WOW! Thanks, guys! I am right at the beginning of branding/packaging project, biggest I got the chance to work on, so far! Really perfect timing to see this, much appreciated! Keep up the Good Work

This is amazing! truly thank you so much
This video was a real treat! I love being able to see just how many concepts that you came up with in Quick Sprints Stage. Definitely showed me that one of my biggest weaknesses is my efficiency in creating concepts and digging many holes. Something I have to get better at. Thanks for the amazing content as always !

You nailed it Byron! That is the big game changer for us. We used to do only the amount of concepts that was equal to number we promised to the client. We also then spent too much time and got to invest too early in those concepts. Obviously, many of those concepts would simply miss the mark. Soooooo, sprints allows us to learn just as much as a dialed in concept, except we can generate 10x ideas to play with. Then picking ONLY the most viable and on-target concepts before investing our energy into the details. Keep watching! And thanks for all your feedback buddy!
DAMN!!!!! flawless!! thanks for this!
I knew this would be a really deep dive so I just pinned the tab and left it for when I had some proper time to focus. So glad I did. I'm at 8:44 and I keep pausing to learn more from your questionnaires. Thanks for sharing guys
