Panasonic made some fantastic VTRs and this is one of them ! But they need a lot of maintenance now, however they are easy and a joy to work on, as seen in this video.

Mine one doesn't do any command. It takes cassete and frozes. Pressing the buttons wont make it do anything. But, if I unplug it's power cord for a minute and plug it back, I will have couple of seconds to manage it eject cassete by pressing Eject button. Or any else command. But next it freezes on this command. And if I shortly shut it down and then turn on it still will do that command. Any ideas of what could it be?

I don't know which hardware revision you have, but in order to take off the flip-up bottom undercarriage panel mine has six screws not one, and they have a screw icon marks next to each of them on the PCB. Perhaps yours was previously modified and missing screws? Other than that, superb video. I love this player!

Hi Rick, where can I get those belts? I need the 3 on the bottom, the one for the loading mechanism, and the one that goes on the idler unit. Would worn out belts underneath cause the Sub Loading Arm Unit to not function properly? It doesn't move back when a tape is ejected, causing the tape to catch. I move it back into position to load the tape before I insert a tape, and once the tape is in, it very slowly moves the tape into position.

Far far away, I guess. Moscow, Russia. I'll fix it when it's time will come. I'm having a couple ideas of what could it be. Leaked capacitors. That's why it's able to do something for a while. Or maybe bad contact in mode contactor. But, as I already said, it's waiting for it's time, cause right now I'm fixing soviet reel to reel video recorder Elektronika 591. Heads are dead, boards partly unsoldered, but I'm bringing it back to the life.

Hi Rick. First sorry for my english, thats bad. Than.. Good job! I have a problem with my Vhs recorder. When I put inside the VHS, there starts many mechanisms and in 3-4 seconds the yellow led turns on and the vhs eject automaticaly. I really don't know the origin of this problem. Yesterday i opened it , cleaned it in every way but nothing changed. If I send you a video, Do you whant to help me? Thank you very much .Hi!

Rick Thomas Dear, It is not possible to see us, because I am writing from Italy. This is the only one video that I found to a possible repair of my recorder. Today I were in assistance, And they told me that in my recorder has to be chanced all the belts to see wich is the problem.So I must to found a complete KIT. Than I Found this one : www.donberg.ie/descript/p/pavb_116.htm .. but here are only the belts and I don't know if its all.. A long time ago, with this recorder I had a KIT with all the components. They told me that this components must be changed after 10-15 years of work, to allow a perfect operation.... Than.. Do you have something NEW for this recorder?? Thank you

Is anybody interested in buying these? I have one at home, may need a bit of work. It's my dad's he used it for work at the company he used to work for. Just hate seeing things go to waste!
