Pamukkale, Turkey is also known as "cotton castle" or "cotton palace" due to its beautiful white travertines and terraces of natural calcium carbonate minerals. There are 17 hot springs here. Hierapolis is an ancient Greco-Roman city built on Pamukkale. Hierapolis means "Holy City" because of its religious meaning. It was founded at the end of the 2nd Century B.C. and was later ceded to Rome where it flourished n the 2nd-3rd Centuries. The Tuz Golu Salt Lake is the 2nd largest lake in Turkey and has no outlet. It dries up during the summer, which gave us a chance to walk on it.
