I love Lucario its my fav Pokemon but in this scenario its more of a cheap copy of Anubis. The Anubis in Palworld is a much better and accurate representation of its roots and what is based of

I hope Palworld stays popular, I don't play but enjoy watching content on it and it's very nice to see a game without microtransactions pop off as much as Palworld has

So my thoughts on the Anubis/Lucario situation are that I don’t think it’s as blatant as a rip off as people make it. “Anubis” is base on an Egyptian god who is an anthropomorphic jackal. “Lucario” is a dope a martial arts master anthropomorphic wolf. Wolves and jackals look similar, especially if size isn’t a factor, there’s only so many ways to depict a jackal, partially when you have an art style that’s made to be appealing and familiar to Pokémon fans. I feel like people who defend lamball and direhowl, etc, should ALSO defend Anubis bc it’s kinda just……two similar looking inspiration from the start. 🤷‍♂️

This. Both Anubis and Lucario are based off the Jackal-headed depiction of the Egyptian god Anubis. A video by "Lockstin & Gnoggin" that covered the inspirations of many pals also points out that Anubis is supposed to have the head of a Golden Wolf, colored by the black sand of the Nile, and that Palworld's Anubis is actually a little more historically accurate than usual. Also, Anubis in Palworld is probably a reference to his appearance in Pocketpair's Previous game Craftopia, where he handles upgrading your player's stats.

I think Palworld is great and love that it gives Pokemon some competition and pressure to do better with their games. Watch whenever the next Pokemon game comes out that we how many of their new pokemon compare to Pals lol

My take is that palworld has more quality content and depth for 1/3rd the price of modern pokemon. And how many corners pokemons been cutting with cutting content and lack of graphical and technically support.

Fuckin love Palworld so far. There’s a lotta QoL updates I hope they make like having worker pals pick up anything laying in base and bring it to a chest, or having a command on the base tasks to force a pal to prioritize them, and also just improving ai so pals don’t just get stuck on random stuff. Big changes I’d love to see is like a Elden Ring-esque PvP invasion aspect to incentivize building better bases and adding in story (idk if I’m just too low level but I’m like mid game and there’s been pretty much nothing as far as I can tell)

30:35 the pulling material for creating directly from the chest was also in Grounded. Regardless of where it started I completely agree that it is now essential for any survival game.

Im hooked on palworld too. I have misses gym sessions, i stay up longer than i should, i have the game running while i do other things so im consistently gathering resources. I do wish they had at least 1 strong player attack you can cast that has a cooldown. Its different depending on the weapon. Also maybe have all weapons have stronger variants through the game instead of other weapons outclassing older weapons. Also i wish they had a player stat page that gives full detail of all buffs and total stats the player has. Also they should add a movement speed stat as well as maybe an attack speed stat that can appear on pals like the others can.

One thing I have issue with is saying Anubis is a Lucario rip off. It's not, it's literally based off the Egyptian god Anubis, right down to the blue and gold color scheme. If Lucario is also based off the Egyptian Anubis that's fine and all, but if you're making an Anubis based monster then the Pal is far more likely what you'll wind up with than Lucario. Plus Anubis is great in the base. If you Google images of Anubis all they have to say is that that's what it's based off of and case closed. Otherwise love the vid. :)

57:42 Picking up where the question comes to - Are our games REALLY our games? If we buy a copy of Pokemon, is it really "ours" to own? If you own for example an Amazon Prime subscription and like to buy movies from Prime Video, you don't own a copy of the movie. You own "The right to watch the movie as long as Amazon has the right to stream it." Meaning if Amazon's contract with that movie ends and doesn't get renewed, they can take down the movie. Maybe it get's listed by Netflix or Hulu, etc., but potentially not! I just find this interesting - of course video games are a bit different. There are physical copies and differences in contracts; I doubt square enix would relinquish Nintendo's right to cloud stream Kingdom Hearts. But if the contract is built that way, then maybe! Which kind of leans into the discussion of "Will physical copies ever cease to exist?" And if they do, could Big Video Game industry start following Amazon's model?

My main complaint with palworld is stability on my Xbox one s. I crash about once every 30 minutes and anytime I try to load a cave/dungeon. That said I fkn love it and have put about 50 hours in since launch

Upgrade the xbox x it is a lot better on that. i swapped out xbox s for xbox x because i discovered that the xbox s is just an outdated potato now and its time to move on

It was pretty jarring going from Palworld crafting to Enshrouded crafting. Luckily Enshrouded does have the same mechanic for crafting from chest materials. They just put it further back in the progression under the “magic chest”

Palworld makes me think a bit of "what if" Pokemon took a turn à la Final Fantasy from turn-based to action. For the Assassin's Creed question, my 2024 goal is to go through the franchise and so far I agree with Blue that Brotherhood is goat and I'm sad to say I disagree with Rob. III is guaranteed to be dead last on my favorite list.
