Palps and that sinking feeling in my stomach

Ойын-сауық

In this video, Dr Sanjay Gupta, consultant cardiologist describes the reason why some people develop that sinking feeling in their stomach when they are getting their palpitations. My website is www.yorkcardiology.co.uk

Dear. Dr. Gupta.. We all love you and so appreciate you taking time to explain all these things. You have changed my life, literally. I am no longer filled with anxiety worrying about what the heck is going on with my heart. You are taking the place of thousands of doctors who don't explain these things. Thank you so much.

The symptoms are so scary and my doctor never explains it. Understanding what is happening and why it feels that way certainly take a bite out of the fear and helps with coping. Thank for another great video.

Dazyrue General practitioners often don't know much about the exact details of conditions, unlike specialists, but I think they should be more educated in common qualms like ectopics. Some have an idea but aren't certain, and don't want to show that they're uncertain about something, or say something they're uncertain about, which is not a good personality trait for a doctor in my opinion.

You just don’t know how much your videos do help. I suffer from severe anxiety, PTSD and now agoraphobia. Sometimes I can go a couple of months without pvcs and then, like the last three weeks. I get them every day and become extremely anxious and it seems food will set it off. It has caused IBS of both kinds so I know this is more anxiety than anything but my whole quality of life is gone. I was a police officer for 29 years before I had to retire because of all these issues. I found that because of the years of the ups and downs from my anatomic nervous system it seems to just get my whole system messed up. I fear the next pvc. I pray every night and then just wait to anticipate the next episode. You explain things that so help. But sometimes you just want to give up. That is me.

I’ve had two cardiac ablations one for Afib and then about three months later I had to get a second one due to PVCs which my heart monitor is showing that I was having over 50,000 of these things a day I was actually bedridden scared thinking I was going to die every day struggle to just go to the bathroom and taking a shower was tough, so I got the second ablation about 52 days ago now in the last four days I’ve been noticing I’m starting to get more frequent PVCs I do want to give up I don’t understand why in the heck am I still getting them it’s frustrating but I try to stay positive and now I’m at the point where I just try to push through them i’ve been to the ER about eight times within one year stretch call 911 every time for help they actually got where they didn’t wanna help me no more go to the ER in bigeminy heart skipping every other beat and they would run test and send me home . When I have them I just ride them out but they scare me every single time . 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Finally! A doctor who doesn't think it's all in my head. I've used that same analogy about the sinking feeling like in an elevator and I just get empty stares. I've had an echocardiogram that showed my heart is in good condition, so they sent me away without understanding my complaints and with no interest or intervention. I've lived with this silently for the last five years with no compassion from anyone. Thanks to you Dr. Sanjay my husband finally understands. And we'll be seeing a new cardiologist next week. I have back up now.

Later saw a video of Dr Gupta who explained PPI blocks Magnesium causing heart pulpitation. Now left PPI and feeling much better. My suggestion to all those suffering from similar condition to eat more magnesium content food. It helps.

Yesterday I was experiencing ectopic beats and rapid heart rate and felt dizzy so I went to the ER. Everything straightened out on its own after about an hour but I was terrified because in August I had full blown Atrial Fib and Atrial Flutter. They started me on Lopressor which has been working wonderfully but I forgot to take it yesterday. Love your videos. You’re super informative! Thank you Dr. Gupta!

I get soo much chest discomfort/tightness/pain with hyperthyroidism and my heart is thumping hard for hours at a time, kicking my chest like it's a stuck vending machine, reverberating throughout my body, it's very emotionally stressful, but my heart is just like "whatevs ima keep beating my drum!" haha ectopics are nothing! They're just little kiddy drummers who try to get in the way of boss drummer. Actually I feel they help "reset" my heart and relieve the tachycardia for a second. The heart is so damn strong. Be like the heart, shrug it off and keep going on with your day, while you're still here and your heart is beating a good strong sinus rhythm.

I get that sinking feeling Dr, but I also describe it as a feeling of adrenaline in my stomach. I get this at complete rest and under no external stress. I can't get too excited or it feels like that rush in my stomach and heart and then feel the PVC or palpation (tight feeling). I see a Cardiologist tomorrow. I have a holter monitor on. I did have PSVT 18 years ago twice, but since have been doing ok with the exception of random pvcs. The last 5 years I've experienced very few worrisome pvcs. I've been on Metoprolol all these years as well (100 mg daily). The psvt I experienced many years back happened while racing a car and drinking a lot of caffeine and the other time it happened while mixing alcohol with pills. I haven't done that since. Quit all alcohol, pills and caffeine. I'm overweight, but losing weight now with diet. Otherwise all my blood work, echo, x-ray and ekg checks out. Im not sure why this started back up randomly, but I got Covid 3 months ago and wonder if it's caused inflammation.

Im 21. I experienced it 5 years ago and it came back just last year. The causes of ectopic heart beats could be Electrolyte Imbalances, Lack of Sleep, Caffeine or other stimulants, stress, dehydration, and anxiety. Don’t worry youre not alone. Few days ago while i was walking i suddenly felt like my heart stopped for a second then i couldnt breathe, it felt like i was hyperventilating. But i still continued my walk then it didnt happen again. Did you talk to your cardiologist about your ectopics?

Hey doc. I'm 22 years old and do have really bad healthy anxiety. I have had health anxiety over my heart the most but now I found something different. In the pulse on my right temple, I can feel it and even see it in mirror but it's not throbbing hard. I don't have headaches currently or anything although I have had some. I also feel pressure in my forehead area and temple too. There's always something to worry about it seems I'm only 22 I just wanna live my life.

You have helped me so much with your videos!! I have anxiety and get PVC's and have had SVT's from time to time. One question, how can I tell the difference between a anxiety attack and a SVT?? One thing I have noticed with the SVT's is I feel no anxiety before I have one and my heart feels like it flip flops immediately before the SVT, but is it really an SVT or my anxiety?? I've had many EKG's, echo's and stress tests, all have come back normal. I've worn the holter monitor for 7-30 days at a time! They have caught the PVC's but never the SVT's on the monitor so I've never been diagnosed with SVT's, and I've never had an SVT episode last longer than 5 minutes so it's very hard to catch, lol!!

  • @kaylariley6672

Mermaid Girl generally you can tell the difference between a panic attack and an SVT because an SVT triggers a high heart rate like a switch. You go from 60bpm to say 140bpm like that. A panic attack has a more gradual build and it also decreases gradually. Hope this helps. I have PVCs and they can be incredibly uncomfortable.

facinating! For the past 2 years I have been getting these palpitations that feel like they are happening in my throat area close to my chest, it's like my pulse or heart speeds up or flutters. I never loose my breath or feel dizzy, it makes me feel like I want to throw up and cry and gives me a sinking feeling. It only happens for a few seconds. usually I can get it to stop when I start to take deeper breaths or by coughing and telling myself to calm down. But it freaks me out every time this happens. my doctor did put my on thyroid medication for hypothyroidism but it really didn't help with these palpitations. I wonder if they are actually panic attacks I am having. Never really had anything wrong with me till I hit 31 also ended up with Vertigo for the last year. I am kind of at a loss of what to do next with these palpation and my Vertigo. My Vertigo though has been getting better very slowly over this past year but the palpitations are still there. I wonder if they go hand in hand. I don't know.

Rob your body does release adrenaline when you first wake up that’s what allows you to get up and out of bed is the little surge. Since it’s controlled by the autonomic nervous system (subconscious) we usually don’t notice it. However, usually if you have a weaker sympathetic system (more prone to anxiety) you can notice this. Hope this helps you.
