Pallet shelf with secret compartment - Speakeasy Rustic Style!
I've always been fascinated by the ingenuity of hidden compartments in things, especially during the era of prohibition. Here is my rendition of a picture shelf using pallet wood...Speakeasy Style! And even if you're not a drinker, prehaps this could hold something that you just want to keep out of plain sight;)
Thanks for watching!

As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement kzread.infoUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
Pallet has its own unique beauty that inspires every craftsman who gets hold on it.

Awesome shelf build. I'm not much of a drinker but it would be cool to conceal some things that go bang.
You could add some old pocket watch chain or something on the inside to keep the trap door from slamming the wall and hold the door at a slight angle
That must be the best pallet build I have seen -

Spectacular "How-To" video. This is the kind of stuff that makes KZread great! I could be someone that knows absolutely nothing about how to make anything with wood, but your step by step video showed me precisely how. Thank you so very much!!

In my grandfather's memoirs he stated that a shot of whiskey with four drops of quinine mixed together in a tumbler of orange juice for each person is what saved his entire town of the swine flu pandemic in the early 1900's. So, that's a wonderful medicine cabinet you have there. ;0)

+Pine Meadows Hobby Farm Wow! that's some cool history right there!! I know my dad took quinine for leg cramps after his doctor recommended it as a cheaper alternative to whatever the 'latest greatest' thing was and it worked very well for him. And yes this medicine cabinet does get used from time to time;) Family and friends love to try it out when they come over:)

OK I built it with the pivot point like I was talking about and it works perfectly. I went ahead and bought the magnetic cabinet lock I have seen on other shelves. very happy with that. also I dressed it up a little with crown molding and a flat molding under that to cover up its thickness a little. also looks great. now working on a finish. I wanted an antique look with cracked paint, but I have settled with just a satin white and an antiquing glaze over that. then clear coat. the scrap piece I tried looks nice. can't wait to get the shelf finished.

I love the idea to make this hidden compartment. I am currently working on a bathroom shelving system to hide the water meter in the corner and want to take advantage of all the usable space while making this shelving system removable for water meter maintenance access. I am planing to make vertical shelving above our water meter to store pills/etc but I also looking to make a hair dryer holder drawer holder for the my loved one and should be able to implement a hidden compartment using this magnet/nail system. Many thanks for this video... :)

Even though I'm not gonna build this exact shelf, you gave me some REALLY good ideas. In stead of having the bottom part of the shelf drop down and using the magnets to unlock a premade lock mechanism, like most hidden compartment shelf builds I've seen, I'm going to figure out a way to use the first design you showed where the top edge was rounded off to slide into the actual shelf, while using the same name lock design that you used in the video. Thank you for posting this video, btw I gave you a thumbs up.

I LOVE THIS!!! I can get pallet wood from my job all day long and can make this in a few hours at home. Only thing I would add would be smaller shelving boxed in that could hold a jack or jim bottle, and some shot glasses. I dont have access to leahter straps around here.
