I'm doing something similar using scrap wood. I'm 16 and my dad had a old jetski trailer that had nothing on it. And I got some free osb painted it and wrapped it in plastic for the floor got some 2x2s and 2x3s from my construction class in high school. Got a window for free from a job I did freshman year. And I bought the screws. My neighbor had some warped plywood I used for the walls and used enough screws to bend them straight. He also gave me some scrap insulation I was able to use. I have to buy more wood but it was a start.

You certainly can build something practical on a budget!!! You’re going to get the nitpicking, … but it certainly gives me more options and ideas. The only thing I have a problem here is proper frost prevention. I’m in heavy clay here and it likes to heave if you don’t take that into consideration! Great job and thanks!!! Art

If you want frost protection clad the outside in a builders moisture membrane such as Tyvek. Then put insulation on the inside of the walls, same as used on the roof, then the internal cladding you want to finish the interior with.

this is really cool, I will actually do the same. One critical error you did tho, above the windows you should REALLY have reinforced that better, with some 4" or 6" standing raised. and you should also add beams as you did on each corner, next to each window.

Neat job. I built a chicken coop in similar fashion, much smaller, and didn't come out looking as neat or professionally done as yours. Was also concerned about snow and wild weather.. its not anywhere near as well secured as yours, and it's taken a battering without flinching for 2 yrs. @@normalguydoesitall I’m in the middle of a total Reno of my house built 1839 . Stripped down to the brick walls the out side repointed the bricks waterproof the foundation New roof and eaves I hired someone all new windows when I got the house it had been boarded up for twenty years I’m doing 90% of the work my self it’s taking me longer than I thought it would but I’m a lot older than the last time I did something like this I’ll be hitting seventy in a couple years and need to get my knee replaced and surgery on my wrist. Plus I don’t have all the equipment or tools that everyone on these sights have. But I have to buy a truck a good second hand one I purchased most of my windows on sites like Kijiji and bathroom fitting I have four bathroom three bedrooms and three fire place to install .I’ve learned as I go long time ago I moved a lot 12 houses this wasn’t my trade . I went to university to be an acct, but ended up owning restaurants doing sale and a director of a textile company, never did any accounting. I hate to see anything thorn out and wasted but want quality. I see often skips on line for free or very cheap and always wanted to use them your garage gave me many ideas thanks again. I should take more pictures .

love builds like this... benn considering this style for a Garden office, but im tight on space and think ill loose too much in pallet thickness! :( only comment I would make is that you probably have made life a lot easier for yourself if you had centered the roof beams to fall dimensionally with the OSB lengths... might have cost you another beam or 2, but would probably have saved hours in the build!

That's a really cool result for an inexpensive build! I'm concerned about the structural integrity a few years down the road, though. As of now, there's no bracing between the rafters above your wall with the windows so they'll twist out hard. If you put blocking with square edges between them, it will also be a good surface to nail the siding to, so that won't go anywhere either. You've got a lot of skills! God bless you and your family! Nice to see "The Mrs doing her own thing as well" 🤙

Of course half a meter snow isnt good for anything but as you mentioned, you will push it off. i really like your build, it turned out exellent, and its way more sustainable and "finanseable" to build that way. looking forward to next video. The timber, does it have any protection against the water (like oil, or other product). Congratulacions for your project, very nice
