This is a tricky question, and here are some points to consider: 1- Nobody has ever in history claimed a land referring to their ancestors living there thousands of years ago, while themselves having no connection to that land for thousands of years. If you make this a rule, very few if any country may stay safe from returning to other people, and the whole countries of the world must be change. Just as an example, all colonized lands, which means the whole American and Australian continents and much more, which were occupied just some hundred years ago must be returned to the native people. Guess what? Those colonizers are the biggest supporters of Israel! They have similar ideologies and act similarly, occupation, apartheid, and genocide. 2- Israeli's are not the first people who have lived there ever. The history doesn't start where you point at. 3- Palestinians have lived there for thousands of years too, part of whom are just Jews converted to Islam. Palestinians, including Muslims, Christians, and Jews, lived in peace altogether before Zionism. Zionism is different from Judaism. Righteous Jews DO NOT support Zionism. Zionism was the cause of war in Palestine. 4- Zionist coming in ships to Palestine, and asking for help and saying, Europeans did Holocaust against us, please take us as guest and give us refuge, and then starting to claim the land is ours. Occupation, ethnic cleansing, and genocide were foreseen in the Zionists' plan since more than a hundred years ago. It hasn't happened out of the blue. 5- Have you heard about greater Israel? What that means? Israel is not even a regional, but a world threat. Zionism is the latest stage of western colonialism. The Zionists have shown their true face during the last 7 decades. They are a shame to humanity. 6- Israel believes in any Jew's right to return to Palestine after thousands of years, and gives the citizenship to any Jew who has never been to Palestine, and god knows how many percentages of his so-called ancestor's blood of thousands of years ago. At the same time, denies the right of Palestinians to return, who still have their homes in Palestine, who have lived there for thousands of years, and were expelled through genocide and ethnic cleansing.

@@sahlemus So paying tax (Jizyah) is equal to "not live in peace" and "being second class", right? OK, let's take a closer look at it! Do you know that: 1- Muslims must pay two different type of taxes, called "Khoms" and "Zakat". 2- Muslims must go to military service, fight in wars, and provide protection, while Dhimmis (None-Muslim believer in god, as Zoroastrians, Hindus, Christians, and Jews) who pay Jizyah, are exempted. The Muslim government must provide them protection. Dhimmis who were volunteered to go to military service 3- Women, children, elders, handicapped, the ill, the insane, monks, hermits, slaves, and Musta'mins (non-Muslim foreigners who only temporarily reside in Muslim lands) are exempted from paying Jizyah. 4- Jizya is calculated with regard to an individual's financial situation, so that the poor pay less or nothing (as mentioned above in nr:3) 5- According to Islamic law, elders, handicapped etc, must be given pensions, and they must not go into begging. 6- This Islamic law was introduced 1400 years ago by Islam (apparently is no longer imposed by in the Islamic countries). 7- Historically, the Jizya existed before Islam too. The word "Jizya" comes from the Persian word "Gazit", the tax gathered by Sassanid Persian Empire. 8- By the way, are you living Tax-Free in the country you're living? Now, if you think this 1400 years old Islamic Law is unfair, and violates "Peace" and makes one as a "Second class", you better look at the colonialists, claiming being democracy, including Israel, Britain, USA, Canada, and Australia, and what they have done against the natives of those occupied lands, in 20 and 21st century. Their inhumanity may make to reconsider your thoughts. Do you know that: In Israeli apartheid, they try to make the life of Palestinians as difficult as possible: - Deprivation of Palestinians from water: Palestinians were forbidden to access, or own the water sources, or dig a well to access water, as early as just the beginning of the Zionist occupation in 1948. - Different roads for Palestinians and Israelis: Roads in Palestinians residents are kept not only of very poor, but also the Zionists destroy the roads intentionally to make Palestinians' lives more and more difficult, while Israeli enjoy the highways, just some hundred meters or kilometers away. - Genocide and ethnic cleansing over more than 7 decades. - Right of return for any Jew from any country in the world for just being a Jew, who has never even been to Israel; while Palestinian refugees of war, who have lived for generations in Palestine, have no right to go back to their homes. - Detention, imprisonment, torture, murder of Palestinians, without even any charge. - Armed hostile settlers are free and even supported by IDF to harass and even shoot and kill Palestinians. - Entrance, disgrace and mishandle against Muslim holy places and Muslim prayers, by hostile settlers and IDF. - I can point out infinite number of crimes and atrocities by Israelis against Palestinians (Muslims and even Christians). Do you still think paying Tax (Jizya) is equal to violation of peace and being second class? Do you know that: - Genocide, ethnic cleansing, occupation, deprivation of Natives from their basic human rights in Israel, Britain, USA, Canada, and Australia. - 150 million American Indians were killed in genocide, and they were pushed to reservation camps. - "as recently as 1980s": Kidnapping and separating the Native children from their families, keeping them in Christian church schools, to disconnect them from their Native language, religion, and culture. And harass, abuse, torture, murder, and bury them in mass graves, . - "as recently as On September 18, 1973": Shooting Aborigines in Australia was an occurrence that was ignored and discounted, until it was illegalized. - "as recently as 1964": The separation of White- and Non-People in from smallest to biggest issues, in using buses, stations, drinking water taps (isn't it ridiculously and obviously inhumane?). - Still today: There are racist laws against black Americans and Native Americans, in the USA. Legally depriving them of the equal human rights. There is a lot more to say, you know that, or I hope you know. SO NOW TELL ME; WHERE DO YOU EXACTLY FEEL "IN PEACE" AND "FIRTS CLASS CITIZEN", WHICH HOPEFULLY THE OTHER RACES FEEL THAT WAY TOO. In which country do you live, if you're not ashamed to say.

@jonson2953 when you say *the* original Jews.. you seem to be implying that jews from Europe and other regions are not descended from the jews of biblical times. This would be quite a bold claim and actually quite insane when you think about it if you are aware of genetic studies and simply based on the fact that religions don't spring out of nowhere in different areas of the world. Palistinian people are very closely related, genetically to Jews in general, particularly those who remained in the region of Palistine, however studies also show all modern Jewish groups are most closely related to each other. The fact is, both groups have ancestry from the region, and jews who moved to Europe also have European ancestry, while palistinians are going to have a mix of other Middle Eastern eastern ancestry along with Jewish ancestry. At the same time I'm sure there are at least some modern day Jews who have very little relation to biblical jews.. and the same goes for palistinians (and I'm sure if the genetic studies had a large enough sample size you would see this). No one is descended from a long line of Moses Jr's all getting it on with their cousins.. but jews did tend to choose Jewish partners throughout history even after exile.

Did you read "The Invention of the Jewish People" from Professor Shlomo Sand? or maybe "The Mythic Past" by Thomas L. Thompson can illuminate better the point that there is not any real proof of the existence of a historic Israeli kingdom and that everything writing in the bible is just a myth. Another good book is "The Idea of Israel: A History of Power and Knowledge" by Professor Ilan Pappe!. it is true knowledge will make us free, and maybe justice will prevail one day and the Palestinians will be FREE to live in peace and return to Palestine their HOME!

@@slXD100 No, it's not correct to say they are much longer and impactful than Palestinians. If you read history well, you know that they are not the first settler to this land. Before the jews or bani Israel, there are other tribes such as the Canaanites and the Philistines. Those are the real indigenous people to the land. So the people of Philistine today is from those old tribes such as the Philistines and Canaanites. So if you are saying that the jews today deserved to be in this land because they've got thousand of years history, then the people of Philistine today much more deserving to be here, because their tribes came here before the jews tribes thousand of years ago. That's the first thing, secondly how can you confirm that the jews that came here in the 1940s, they are the real jews of the old time. No one can confirm that. Thirdly, their faces and looks doesn't resembles the Semitic people, they look more Europeans than Semitic. The real Semitic people look like the Philistine people today and the Arabs. When people first see them, the first impression is that they are Europeans. So what they are doing is totally wrong, killing the indigenous people of the land, forced them out, stole their land and houses by forces. Nothing can justify their actions, and it's a shameful act from Britain and UN to assist them in creation of the state of Israel by killing the Palestinians and stealing their land and houses since the 40s.

That is how countries are decided. The one with the most guns wins. If we couldn't hold onto the land, we'd lose it and have to adjust. We're just squeamish about it because we fancy ourselves so much more civilized than our ancestors these days. Obviously the less violence the better, but it's pretty hypocritical for especially white people to be criticizing Israel. Are we going to leave New Zealand since the Maori beat us there by a few centuries? Are we going to leave the US because there were many nations there already? Of course not. It's our home now too. It's pointless to try to unwind decades or centuries of pain. You have to cut the losses and start fresh at some point. There's no possible way to compensate someone fully for the death of a family member killed in the fighting or perfectly return all the land that changed hands generations ago. Compensation of some form is appropriate, but it can't all be undone because we don't have time machines!

@@prettyokandy230 From a pragmatic view, it is understandable why Israel is uneasy to allow Palestine to build a modern military. I think the deep animosity between the extremists (e.g. Likud and Hamas) on both sides, mean that if Palestine had their own state, it would inevitably result in a war. The other alternative is a one state solution. However, for this to work, Israel has to abolish discriminatory laws that favour Jews. The "problem" with the one state solution is that Jews will lose their majority, thus it will never be achieved while a nationalistic government (Netanyahu) is in power in Israel. Regardless of what happens, I think it would be a sign of good will if Israel helps rebuild infrastructure in Gaza and West Bank, so that the Palestinian civilians have electricity, clean water, medicine, etc. At the very least, I think Israel should rebuild whatever was damaged during their airstrikes. This would ease tensions until a more permanent solution is reached.

For example, the channel's host Corey asked if the Jews of today in Israel were 1. indigenous to Israel, and 2. The same as "Bani Israel (Children of Israel) who were mentioned in the Quran. I don"t think Ismael understood the question very well. I assume the interpreter preferred to give a literal translation without interference on her part to keep the authenticity of the conversation. I think the Ismael meant to say that there were indeed Jews living in the land (historically) but they were an ethnic/religious group like other groups who lived in the land and were a minority, but were all part of a Palestinian nation like the Christians today. Thanx for the channel though it's great work, very informative, and positive.

It seems that some Palestinians have a very short-term memory and a very limited knowledge of history. Jerusalem was conquered by King David around 1000 B.C and soon afterwards the Jewish Temple was built where the al-Aqsa Mosque stands today. The land was under Jewish rule for about 500 years until it was conquered by the Babylonians at 586 B.C. At 332 B.C. the land was conquered by Alexander the Great. At around 160 B.C. the Jews revolted under Judah the Maccabee and the land returned to Jewish rule until the Romans conquered it at 63 B.C. Under Roman rule, Jews were allowed to continue to live and worship at their Temple in Jerusalem. At 70 A.D. after a failed Jewish revolt the 2nd Temple was destroyed and many Jews were killed and sold to slavery but many survived and relocated to northern Israel around Tiberius. During all this time the land was always referred to as Israel or Judea. At 135 A.D. Bar Kohba led another failed revolt against the Roman empire. To punish the Jews for the revolt, the Roman Emperor Hadrian named the land "Palestine" in an attempt to erase Jewish identification with the land of Israel. Many of the Jews were killed and exiled but some always stayed behind in the land. For the next 1800 years the Holy Land was under Byzantine rule, Ottoman rule, and then British rule after WW1. In 1947 the United Nations voted on the division of the land between Arabs and Jews. The Jews accepted the offer while the Arabs refused. When the British mandate ended in 1948 Israel declared independence which resulted in 5 Arab countries attacking it but Israel prevailed and remains independent to this day. At no time in history did a race of people called “Palestinians” exist or rule the land. The term “Palestinians” was used to refer to anyone who lived in the land between 63 B.C. and 1948 whether they were Arab, Jews, Christian, or any other race or religion. This is part of history that can be easily verified by historical records and archaeology by any honest person. To deny this history is to deny reality. I find it amazing that practically every other country on earth came to terms with their borders and rulers. The United States for example, was conquered by European immigrants in the 1700’s but originally it was ruled by Native Americans and Mexicans. But today, you don’t see native Americans or Mexicans resort to terror attacks against Americans and claim their land was “occupied” by European immigrants. Rather, they accept the reality that in every war there are winners and losers and have decided to live in peace. The Palestinians can’t seem to accept the reality that Israel rules the land today and probably always will.

Aww! I'm not good at history but as you said United States conquered by Europe is a long time ago before there's the international law but Palestine story is after there's the international law. The lands that Israel occupied is belong to Palestine according to international law. And about the war you knew or pretend to not know about the "Nakba' what Israel did to Palestine, and pretend to not know that USA, UK, fund Israel to against Palestine since the state created. Especially, you said about winners and losers in war it seems like you lived in the past or like animal's world that there's no humanity, the strong always own everything and the weak doesn't own anything. Wow! Still think like this in 2021? Peace? Should ask Israel that they love peace or ethnic cleansing. They already controlled everything on Palestinians but they still humiliate, use violent and displace them from their home. If you're a human just remove all human backgrounds and look at the situation then you'll see what's right and what's wrong!

Jews left 2000 years ago and bred all over different places now the Jews have a connection obviously but so do the Palestinians. Cant deny 1600 years of a people being born and bred just as long as any jew. Palestinians are indigenous for damn sure if you consider Jews from Europe and everywhere else “indigenous”. Indigenous is to include those who never left. Jews of today are not indigenous. They don’t have the last 10 centuries of history in the land. Very few of them can prove lineage more than 70 years in Israel. Palestinians can prove 1400+ years especially the Christians.

@@user-os6qo7hl3q The question wasn't whether Palestinians are indigenous to the land. The question was about the Jewish people. Neither can claim this title. Israel was an Iron Age kingdom. Middle of the road of written history. By Biblical accounts, when Abraham, and later Moses and Joshua entered the land, there were people already there. The Kingdoms of Israel and and Judah arose out of a Canaanite population, and the Torah and Old Testament are full of this military and political history as well as the people's struggle to break from the old religious practices (for example. Baal worship). The historical record bears this out as well. We can see, in the archaeological record the emergence of Ugaritic, Phoenecian and later, Hebrew. We can see the 40+ thousand years of human habitation before that. Who were the first inhabitants of the land? Who knows. The material evidence predates written history by tens of thousands of years. Watching two groups of people who came to the land over 2000 years into the historical record argue about who was there first and whether that gives them any modern right to exclusive use of the land would be laughable if it's consequences weren't so tragic.

People very often misconstrue Indigenous with the word native. Whereas native is defined as belonging to a particular place by birth, indigenous is defined as being produced, living or existing naturally in a particular region or environment. Now Israel hasn’t always existed naturally in the levant or as we originally know it, the land of Canaan. However, Abraham, Isaac and later Jacob all migrated to the land of Canaan wherefrom they learnt the language and customs of the Canaanite people. And obviously the Canaanites was always present in the levant, before Abraham, and before the exodus of Israel from Egypt. Later however they were driven out, som stayed, and some even having intermarriages. Until very recently, scientists believed that the original Canaanites were extinct, but recent research shows that the their direct defendant still exists in Lebanese people. However, many Palestinians as well as Israelites have Canaanite blood, some palestinas are even descendants of Judah. So we can definitely say that the indigenous Jews are those who are partly Canaanite, whilst the pure Jews are native.

Palestinians, as many Jews themselves today, don't understand Jewish history and Jewish identity. Jews are not coming from different countries, they are coming from one exile, Exile from their original land. They never stop keeping strongly attached to their land. Before modern nation states were born, all the Jews, whether in Yemen or in Germany, were living in autonomous communities having nearly the same institutions and the same talmudic laws based upon the Bible. They were living in a kind of extraterritorial State in Exile.

I think the DNA argument is usually only brought up because of the accusation that most Jews have no ancestral connection to past Jews who lived in the Levant. It's not about who is closest genetically. It is the cultural affinity plus ancestral connection that purportedly supports the Jewish claim to the region. Of course, the militant ideas of many Jews that they should have special rights there is repugnant to peaceful people, and Palestinians have a strong case for their own connection to the land, if one cares about such "connections".

As I was saying they chose to use the word Palestina as a mockery because it refers to the ancient enemies ofbthe jews: the people coming from the Aegean sea, the Philistines (which is, funny enough, the same pronunciation Arabs use to refer themselves as "natives"). And for more than 600 years jews were referred to as Palestinians, the inhabitants of the now occupied territories of Syria Palestina. Around the year 622 there were the first Muslim conquests where Arabs *invaded* the levant area, making it later a part of their own Empire. But once the ottoman empire was defeated and the jews that were sold as slaves by the romans all around the world wanted to come back to their country, the Arabs started to call themselves "natives" and "Palestinians" and the jews by the country their ancestors where sold as slaves to. This MTDNA originated in the Middle East as according to the very latest DNA studies. The distribution of Ashkenazi Jews and North African Jews are genetically closer to each other than to their non-Jewish neighbors Can you aimagine a group of European invaders swoop in and slap a new name on your homeland... only for a gang of Arab invaders to come along 2000 years later, hijack the name, and have the audacity to proclaim themselves as the true natives!? Many tribes, races, ethnicities, language groups and religions have lived in what has been variously called Palestine, Israel, Judea and Samaria, Caanan, etc throughout its long history. Before the Muslims, Christians, and Jews, there were many other groups older and arguably "more indigenous" than any of the present groups claim. The history has been turbulent, with times where diversity was sustainable, and times when groups tried to extinguish the other and achieve political or demographic dominance. One thing is certain: no group can claim a monopoly on the land as exclusively theirs... This has never been the case historically or archaeologically, and is not ethically justifiably either.

However the Jews didn't asimilate the culture and religion of the empire with its many "gods". For Israel there's always be one true God. There were various conflicts and rebellions against the Roman rulers. Two of the main conflicts were the one in the year 70 AC where the Romans destoyed Jerusalem and the Second Temple and the other in the year 134 where the Romans gathered the best of their troops even the ones stationed as far as England! Long story short, the Romans hated the Jews so much that they not only destroyed Jerusalem, but also changed its name to Aelia Capitolina, deported the Jews from their homeland, and changed the name of the land from Israel to Palestine. They also spreaded salt on the ground in order to prevent planting in its soil. That's why the land of Israel chaged its name to "Palestine." I would also like to bring the fact that the majority of Palestinians are not genetically Arab. Most of them are a conglomerate of the populations that mixed in the Levant. As they adopted Islam, they began to identify as Arab and Arabized.

Alan Hughes That’s a generalization of an entire area’s population. The area was occupied by the Romans but that does not mean all of the people were Romans lol... logic

So you're saying if I bring the "majority" of Palestinians and give them DNA tests that a MAJORITY of them will not have Arab genes?

True, but it's more complicated. It's not so much that the majority are not genetically Arab, but that the majority of their ancestry is not Arabian. Palestinian Christians are almost pure Levantine with some Mesopotamian ancestry. Muslims are much more mixed, but still probably derive more than 50% of their ancestry from the ancient Levant. They do, however, have a substantial amount of Arabian, Egyptian, East African (which may have entered through the former two), and Iranian ancestry.
