I am completely horrified by the bizarre, hate-filled, random comments noted below. What is wrong with people? This is such a vital interview, and she is a tender soul who has had an exceptionally challenged life in light of her heritage. This situation is impossibly complex, and yes, there are many critical dimensions not addressed... but she is sharing what HER experience has been, and it is a voice that is just as important to honor as another. Thank you for introducing her to us! Amanpour. & Company is one of the few stations that I truly respect and appreciate deeply. Thank you! May PEACE, TOLERANCE-to-CELEBRATION, UNDERSTANDING-and-COMPASSION, CREATIVE COLLABORATION, AND MUTUAL RESPECT and UPLIFTMENT PREVAIL!!!

TODAY, I JUST SAW THIS VIDEO, THAT HAS SO MUCH TO DO WITH MY OWN BACKGROUND AND AT THE SAME TIME IS A LOT MORE PAINFUL BECAUSE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE REFUGEE EXPERIENCE. I AM NOT A REFUGEE LIKE THIS YOUNG UKRAINIAN-PALESTINIAN AND I HAVE BEEN GROWINF UP IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT IN THE WEST, UNLIKE HER FAMILY, THAT HAD TO FLEE PALESTINE TO LEBANON AND THEN TO UKRAINE. HOWEVER, I SHARE WITH HER ONE COMMON FEATURE : HER PARENTS ARE PALESTINIAN ON ONE SIDE AND UKRAINIAN ON THE OTHER AND MY PARENTS ARE FRENCH ON ONE SIDE AND SYRIO-ARGENTINE ON THE OTHER. FOR THIS REASON, I CAN TOTALLY EMPATHIZE WITH WHAT SHE HAS BEEN GOING THROUGH SINCE WE BOTH BELONG TO THE WESTERN WORLD ON ONE SIDE AND TO THE MIDDLE-EASTERN WORLD ON THE OTHER. BOTH ARE HEAVILY ANTAGONISTIC AND BOTH ARE SUFFERING TREMENDOUSLY. THIS DUAL IDENTITY OR BETTER SAID BELONGING TO 2 WORLDS WARRING WITH EACH OTHER IS EXTREMELY PAINFUL TO EXPERIENCE AND AT THE SAME TIME FORCES US TO DEFEND JUSTICE AND PEACE FOR BOTH WORLD AND THE WHOLE WORLD. WE MAY NOT CHOOSE ONE MORE THAN THE OTHER BECAUSE BOTH TOGETHER ARE US AND THE WHOLE OF HUMANITY. WE MUST BE BEARERS NOT ONLY OF JUSTICE, BUT ALSO OF TRUTH. THIS IS WHY I CANNOT BE FOR FRANCE AND THE WEST ON ONE SIDE, ESPECIALLY WHEN I KNOW WHAT CRIMES ARE COMMITTED IN THE NAME OF MY COUNTRY OF BIRTH, THE COUNTRY OF MY FATHER OR FOR SYRIA ONLY, THE COUNTRY OF MY MOTHER'S FAMILY, NO MORE THAN SHE MAY BE ONLY FOR PALESTINE ON ONE SIDE AND FOR UKRAINE ON THE OTHER. MOREOVER, MY MOTHER WAS ALSO BORN AS AN ARGENTINE NATIONAL AND ARGENTINA NOW SUPPORTS THE ZIONISTS WITH THIS MONSTER OF PRO-ZIONIST PRESIDENT, MILEI, THAT THEY HAVE CHOSEN AND A TOTALLY PRO-AMERICAN POLITY, WHICH FOR ME IS SIMPLY CRIMINAL. I WAS NOT BORN A UKRAINIAN, BUT THE FAMILY OF MY SYRIO-ARGENTINE MOTHER IS TOTALLY MIXED AS ARE THE FAMILIES OF SO MANY ARGENTINES, WHO HAVE RUSSIAN, GERMAN, ITALIAN, SYRIAN, ETC. YOU NAME IT! BLOOD, SO I LET YOU IMAGINE ALSO HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE UKRAINIAN-RUSSIAN AND THE PALESTINIAN-ISRAELI CONFLICTS. I UNDERSTAND THAT YOUND LADY SO WELL AND I AGREE ENTIRELY WITH EVERYTHING SHE SAYS! I SAY LIKE HER : STOP THESE WARS EVERYWHERE ON THE PLANET FOR WHATEVER REASON, RIGHT OR WRONG! STOP THE PRODUCTION OF ALL THESE LETHAL WEAPONS, THAT KILL MILLIONS OF PEOPLE EVERYWHERE AND TO THE MEDIA AND THE GOVERNMENTS EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD, TO THE NETANYAHUS, THE PUTINS, THE BIDENS, THE MACRONS, THE TRUMPS, THE MILEIS, ETC. STOP LYING TO EVERYBODY... YOUR GOAL IS NOT THE DEFENCE OF DEMOCRACY, VALUES OR ANY KIND OF NEW WORLD OR CIVILIZATION, BUT ONLY GREED AND PERSONAL POWER! STOP THE WAR IN PALESTINE AND ALL OVER THE MIDDLE EAST! AND STOP IT TOO IN UKRAINE! THE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD ONLY NEED ONE THING...PEACE! AND IF IN THE END, YOU DECIDE, THAT YOU CANNOT STOP THE SLAUGHTER, AT LEAST FIGHT AGAINST THE ONLY TRUE ENEMY AND FOE : FASCISM! RELIGIOUS AND IDEOLOGICAL FASCISM, EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD, IN THE WEST AS MUCH AS IN THE EAST, BECAUSE THIS LEVIATHAN IS TRULY THE ONE THREATENING THE WHOLE PLANET EVERYWHERE WITH ALL THESE RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL FANATICS AND THEY ARE NOW IN FULL ACTION NEARLY EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

She is not for blame of course, but you can’t ignore the fact the the Palestinian leadership took poor decisions over the past century, including rejecting the UN partition plan that would’ve secured a state for them (a plan that the Jews on the other hand accepted). As grim as it may be to some, in many cases we are the product of our ancestors decisions and actions. I understand she’s coming from a certain background and her worldview is based on that, but that does not mean that her perception of reality is what really went down. Jews are not the only ones to blame for the state of Palestinians, but also the British, other Arab countries and Palestinians themselves.
@geofflepper3207
Ай бұрын
Of course Palestinians rejected a plan created by white European and North American governments for white European Jewish Zionists to invade, steal and occupy over half of the land of Palestine. Imagine if in 1947 the United Nations had been dominated by governments of independent African countries instead of by white nations and those African governments had decided that a particular group of Africans had the right to invade, steal and occupy over half of the territory of France or of Britain and all local Europeans who lived on that land should be forced to leave even if that meant becoming stateless refugees outside of their people's land. How would the British or French have reacted to that? Would they have meekly accepted that or would they try to fight the invaders. You know the answer to that. Of course the British or French would not meekly accepted the theft of over half of their lands by invaders from another continent just because other people in that other continent said that such a massive theft of land would be ok. So you shouldn't complain that the Palestinians didn't meekly accept having over half of their land stolen. They reacted the same way any people in the world would react to an attempt to steal over half of their land.

@@bosnianlady10 yes of course, you can look it up online. The land was split 50-50 between the Jews and the Arabs. The Arabs got a much better deal because the Jews mostly got the Negev desert which is much less desirable. Yet the Jews accepted and the Arabs did not. Their leaders at the time believed that with the help of other big Arab countries they could win a war and expel the Jews who were vastly unnumbered. They took the wrong bet and here we are
