everyone saying she isnt playing the guitar - she plays this song on an upstroke rather than down and moves her hands up and down to keep the motion between each strum. She’s always done this on Heavenly and during the Glastonbury set she was doing that with her hand and messed up one of the chords so she clearly doesn’t mime lol rant over

I know what you mean. The XX played a version of 'Shelter' at Glastonbury last year which was much faster than the version on the record and which I thought improved on the original. Romy Madeley Croft has hinted in interviews that they are thinking of making an album with some of their earlier stuff updated. It will be interesting to see if it happens. I am a classical fan as well as a rock fan and that is a very different world where there are often numerous different recordings of the same piece, and you pick the one (or ones) that you like. In rock you tend to get one definitive version, and that is it.

As for the comments about backing tracks, my suggestion is to hire a female keyboardist/backing singer that fits in with them for live shows. Then they could stretch out the songs a bit and not be limited by the backing tracks. 😁

Great performance. Her voice really sounds amazing against those guitars. They need to make sure they keep the guitar sound inventive and prominent and not let the vocals take over like The Verve did.

This band is basically a female fronted 1975 - they're OK but have been completely sucked into the hype and image thing. They'll probably do one album and implode under a drug fueled ego meltdown. Just like rock'n'roll should be!! Love it!!

I don't think i've seen somebody performing on that much cocaine since the 80's.

i love that depression sounds upbeat in 2017 (with pale waves and paramore too) because the majority of Top 40 pop is so downbeat (Selena Gomez, Post Malone, Sam Smith)
