The chandan which is being talking about in this movie is not Sandalwood but it is Redwood, also called Rakt chandan because of its dark red colour. It is a very expensive wood only naturally grown in Seshachalam forests of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, India. This wood is being used to make high end and high value musical instruments, furniture, etc. It's also being used in medicines, cosmetics, toiletries, etc. These things are also being said in this movie itself.

Karnataka state is the highest producer of Sandal wood that's why karnataka state called as Gandhadha Gudi means temple of Sandalwood. That's the reason kannada film industry called as SANDALWOOD.
