Pakistani Food in HUNZA, Gilgit-Baltistan - AMAZING 200 Year Old Stone Pot Curry!!

Rediscover Pakistan with MANAKY! 🇵🇰 Manaky is your one-stop shop for all your travel resources in Pakistan (curated tours, rentals and local experiences)!
www.manaky.com
In today’s video, we have come to Northern Pakistan. This region is a MUST-SEE for all travellers coming to Pakistan! We visited in Autumn (October 2021), which is the most beautiful time of the year to see the fall foliage! We are exploring the Northern regions throughout this series with our friend Shehroze from Manaky!
We are starting our journey through the North with a local breakfast in a traditional restaurant Osho Thang. Our main dish will be Mutton Gorkun, which is actually the ancient stone pot the food is cooked in. These pots can be over 200 years old and all carved by hand. We also tried their omelette and a very unique dish called Dirum Phitti. Dirum Phitti is made with a natural sweet flour, which is kneaded with only water and pan fried. It was then smothered in walnut oil. All of the food is locally sourced, organic and extremely delicious!
Next, we drove to Hunza Valley. Here we visited Ganish Fort, the first settlement on the Silk Road in Hunza and is over +1000 years old. As we explored the village, we noticed how well-preserved this village was despite its age and exposure to rough weather conditions. Around 25 families still live inside the ancient fort and we were kindly invited into a local family home for some chai and cookies. Another example of Pakistani hospitality!
As the sun sets early up in the mountains in Autumn, we hiked up to the Viewpoint Eagle’s Nest. This is the perfect spot for watching the sunset because you are surrounded by the Karakoram mountains and have a stunning view of Hunza Valley below. It was unbelievable!
We climbed down the mountain, and ventured into Karimabad bazaar. This is a great market for shopping, especially if you are looking to buy gems. We visited Cafe de Hunza to try their traditional walnut cake and local tea. For dinner, we stopped into Hidden Paradise, where they serve local food only. They use very unique ingredients in their food like apricot seeds and apricot oil.
We had an amazing day exploring the beautiful Hunza Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan. We would like to thank Shehroze for joining us and all of the friendly locals we met. Make sure to subscribe because we have MUCH MORE coming from Pakistan each Sunday - Gilgit, Hunza Valley, Sost, Skardu, Khaplu and more! 🇵🇰

@@KingClaw no I’d never heard of it. I was born England but my parents are from Pakistan so I have family there and land and property I own. I’ve just not been back in years unfortunately but am planning to go soon when I get time. I have family in Peshawar too but they never mentioned it back then so it maybe a more popular destination now. Out house is in a village, well it’s more a 3 storey mansion as the building materials were so cheap when it was made lol but it’s in a remote village about an hour from kallar seydan. But we have property in the Blue Area of Islamabad we go back and forth when family goes over. I’ve been told so much has changed for the better since I was last there. I travelled to gilgit to Sialkot which was awesome and crossed states into Baluchistan. But they didn’t have as many places for tourists as they do now which is awesome. When I go I will keep that place in mind.

I think you people are the only ones who has managed to bring in the crisp, autumn morning air feel through the lens while having the brunch and the mountain sunset. Never been to Hunza so can’t say if the colours that are shown on camera is actually what you see but it’s absolutely stunning. Gives a whole TV series vibes. The flour is actually made up of the sprouts of the wheat ( extremely healthy and known for curing cancer cells), and the flour is called "diram" ( in brushaski language) and the sweet(sugar free dish) is called "diram pheti". It is eaten with apricot oil or butter "Maltas in brushaski". By the way, they have added way too much of oil🤣
