Correct.

First they followed arabs and now Turkish. May be Chinese tomorrow. But they have to deny their Indian roots.

You don’t do many of these interviews, but the ones you do are very thought provoking. Why don’t intellectuals have the same passionate followers like religion - it’s a mind blowing observation. However true Islam is both intellectual & passionate. The religion needs no defence as it has withstood the test of times.

I have noticed that whenever he talks about radicalised Pakistan he tries to balance this by quoting India too become radicalised during Modi's time. He criticise persecution of minorities in Pakistan but he oppose CAA which gives fast citizenship to these minorities.

Dr Hoodbhoy is absolutely right they our government or state is not interested in knowledge/research and science. We are not interested in History. Dr Hoodbhoy is a concerned scientist and intellectual and Pakistan needs a lot more such people. One thing I would like yo point out however. Why do we never object when other dramas or fiction are screened by the dozens every day on our television screens. Why do people not object the screening of Hollywood superhero movies or the game of thrones?

We are glad to see Prof Pervez Hoodbhoy, Professor Ishtiaq Ahmed, and many others criticizing the Two-Nation Theory, questioning the partition of India, and exposing Jinnah. Pakistani society has become a negative society where everyone sees something negative in others. One who shouts the negativity louder the more he will be assumed as wiser. Now it is the responsibility of every individual of the society to comment positive speak positive and ignore negativity. Just ignore it will change the society.

Most Pakisthanis suffer from deep identity crisis. But good news is Sindhis do consider themselves as son of the soil and they are decendants of Indus valley civilization. They might have converted to Islam but they stick to their culture.

Pervaiz Hoodbhoy is an intellect even though I disagree with some of the things that he says about religion and our ancestory. There arebcountless videos on KZread that Pakistani's have mixed DNA. They are not 100% Indian. Anyways, It's ok to disagree with something. But still he is a useful person. I dont care what someone's relegion beliefs are as long as his or her words makes sense. I have enormous respect for Mr Hoodbhoy but I think we should not read too much into this. In the West legends of often churned out as history. Movies like Gladiator or Alexander by Americans relating to ancient Rome or Greeks are all the rage. I don't see Americans carrying out critical analysis of these. Having said personally I am very happy that Pakistani's are becoming addicted to Ertugrul rather than figures from Arab history or Indian history like Tipu Sultan who was not from coterminous Pakistan. Thus al these are 'foreign' imports. However addiction to Turkish legends opens up Pakistani culture to a more developed, secular and advanced culture of Turkey. This might even have a positive impact in the long term. After all I would rather Islamabad ape Istanbul then Mumbai or Riyadh.
