Pakistan reimagined - interview with Husain Haqqani | VIEWPOINT

Husain Haqqani is a former Pakistani Ambassador to the United States and the Hudson Institute’s director for South and Central Asia. His new book, "Reimagining Pakistan: Transforming a Dysfunctional Nuclear State," calls for Pakistan to redefine itself as entrepreneurial and intellectual, rather than dominated by its army and animosity toward India. With a major election looming, Haqqani discusses his vision for Pakistan with AEI's Sadanand Dhume.

Agreed entirely to Mr. Haqqani's argument on Nawaz Sharif. On Mr. Khan, maybe he should not have said that he IS supported by the military, but that there is a danger that he can be supported inordinately so, and that x, y and z are the reasons for that.

This really prompts one to ask the question - “Was the partition of the Subcontinent worth it?” This may be a very difficult question for the patriotic ones to ask, but it does raise a very valid concern.

  • @Gre3k

The partition was fabricated by the brits, Hindus never wanted to divide India that is why British planted gandhi to do that work for them. Then this narrative was built that hindus and muslims can't live together therefore the population needs to be divided and gandhi backed the thoughts and supported the creation of Pakistan

You must understand Pakistan's state of affair is closely linked to Islamic ideology. Islamic ideology says this present life is nothing but life after death is all that important. So you see they don't give a damn to improve their present condition but they long for death as real thing starts after death so there is always conflicts with the non believers to be in good book of Allah that is jihad is a vital commandment of Islam.

There is only one hurdle in becoming friends with India and that is "Kashmir". Why can't India held promised Plebiscite in IOK and whatever the resulta, end the conflict once and for all. Why is it Pak who has to give in Kashmir to be friends with India?

@BC 123 Balochistan annexed into Pakistan in April 1948 on the behest of Jinnah. The then tribal leaders agreed and become part of Pak. If u r interested about the history of Balochistan you can read more on Wikipedia. As far as Kashmir is concerned, the valley never got to express its own opinion. According to Radcliff award, Muslim majority areas would have to be Pakistan and hindu majority areas to be India.

As far as my DNA is concerned, (Muslim DNA), just look at the world history, there are only 2 empires who ruled the world first Islamic empire and then the British empire. And I love.... U considered me as ur bro not the eternal enemy❤️
