At Breakthrough News we believe in the power of independent media. Five mega-corporations dominate the media landscape - controlling 90% of what we read, watch and listen to. They control the news cycle, to which social media and even most “alternative” media is forced to respond. We are breaking through that cycle.
We tell the untold stories of resistance from poor and working-class communities - because out of these stories we will construct a different narrative of the world, as it is and in real time.
People’s movements in every corner of the globe are changing history and shifting consciousness. But these movements barely receive any coverage from the corporate media. They need visibility. They need amplification. They need a media arm to break through.
We can be that media arm, but only with your help. Become a Patron and join us on the front lines in the battle of ideas.

They tried globalization and negotiation and a kind of neocolonial scale of inspection regime giving up alot of sovereignty and alot of economic potential (sadly and aggravatingly, ultimately in vain and at the coat of 10s maybe 100s of thousands of lives even before Covid). Rouhani, Zarif and Larijani did all they could and the public gave them 8 years and the bulk of the blame goes to imperialist US and E3. The people decided to stay home and/or for a change back to the left de facto.

I've always been fascinated by Iran and that region's history. Studied it in a graduate seminar on comparative political systems and all this lines up with how I understand it. There's no such thing as a benevolent state. All states are an amalgamation of competing and cooperative interests arranged through a filter of history, culture, material and class interests and antagonisms, external forces and so on. With few exceptions, the only thing that makes one state good and another evil is the subjective assessment levied at a particular moment in time.

Iran as it is today is on the verge of cultural destruction as it's people are being oppressed under an islamist terrorist entity that hates any thing Iranian and trying to replace the Iranian culture with sharia law. Afghanistan is not doing any better.

I’m really impressed with your channel Rania! The propaganda is so strong in the west that even though I have heard about many of the malevolent actions of the US, and US allies throughout the world, I’m still drawn towards this notion that the US is somehow still a leader on the side of justice and truth. (Which has never been true). Thank you for pulling me back towards the truth. I am very grateful!

The regime is imploding... of course from within... the seemingly fast approaching demise of the supreme leader necessitates a host of new strategies and political lineups... The resemblance to the final years of the Shah is mind-blowing... the issue of "ethnic minorities" will become more critical in coming months... A coup by Sepah seems to be the only remedy for the dying regime...but for how long?...btw... that Harandi dares to mention "free speech" in and of itself is outrageously shameless... being the mouthpiece for a theocratical dictatorship and mourn the death of free speech in the west, is only hilarious...

Outstanding explanation of the western pressures, & yes, genocidal measures against Iran for decades. Interestingly, independent travelers through Iran with KZread channels have consistently shown Iranian hospitality, bustling markets & generally good spirits. These have been travelers from Europe & USA, & even one Chinese woman making her way home, Overland just after C19. Of course, these are travelers simply making their way through the country following fairly direct routes. Nevertheless, they give ample evidence that Iranian people & culture are friendly, hospitable & NO WAY resemble anything in Western media.

How can ANYONE in Iran be pro West? Either they’re ignorant & don’t know what’s going on or they do know & the sanctions don’t bother them - so if they have no concerns for their fellow Iranians, why haven’t they left?

As to energy needs of a country. That could side step sanctions and other measures. And make any country energy independent. One only need to rely on their own populations and other biological resources. To get complete energy self sustainable sufficiency. And also put in place multiple redundancies to keep energy, which includes fuels. That do not need to be imported or taken from by force. Like that which is happening in Syria. Which is being occupied by the US and proxies. With stable energy. Comes stability to be self sufficient in almost everything a country could need. I have one such energy infrastructure plan. Which also includes water infrastructure.

I'm just so sorry to hear how far the BBC among other networks has fallen with regard to Iran. I was especially interested in your account contrasting BBC domestic and World Service output. In the face of the evident crumbling of BBC news in the UK, the myth remains of the solidity of the World Service, presumably from people who do not listen to it, or who are confined to its English language output, and, most of all, are without any other sources against which to evaluate its output. Our domestic BBC has issues in reporting on Northern Ireland accurately, let alone Yemen or Iran! Thank you for this programme and your output, especially on sanctions, and I hope the US don't police you as they have Press.tv.

The BBC Persian service has been a rag for many decades now. The world service was set up as part of a sophisticated propaganda system. It hasn’t “fallen”, it is doing what it was designed to.

This gentleman's point of view is the confirmation of the crime in Iran's dictatorial government and any other murderous government. He says that other governments kill, so we kill too. He compares the freedoms of Western people, which are 100 percent, with the lack of freedom in Iran. If this person understood the meaning of humanity and justice in a very small way, he would not have been so bold
