Actually, in every Indian city, there are restaurants that cater to tourists and some places where the local people go to eat! The second category requires a little research and local guidance! This episode was really surprising because Kerela is a very economical place to eat! These guys went to restaurants which must be catering to foreign tourists!!

Kerala is cleaner than the rest of India. FYI I am not a Keralite.

4:13 In every restaurant in Kerala, they give boiled water for drinking and it is free. The water is boiled with a herb called "Karingali" in Malayalam language. Another specialty in Kerala is, if you are ordering rice/meals, the rice and vegies are unlimited. You can eat as much you want.

boat ride is not that expensive if you consider there were seats for more people, for group of 8 people its Rs125 and 5-6 people its Rs200 per head

I was born in Ernakulam Kochi and BTH is Bharatha Tourist Home and more than 60 years old .There water is hard hence water is served with jeera and hot .The old world charm is gone .

Food in Kerala would normally cost higher compared to other states in India due to higher input cost. The per day cost for unskilled labour in Kerala is around ₹900 per day (8 hours for work) with higher rates per day for skilled labour. And in Kerala, people give too much importance to cleanliness and presentation, so those jobs will also have to be taken seriously. Also, farming is not very attractive work in Kerala any more and most farmers are focused mostly on cash crops like cashew, coconut, arecanut, tea, coffee, rubber, etc. Most of the food crops & other items are brought in from other states. So, over all the input cost increases drastically for hotels and restaurants.

I stayed in Ernakulam for over 5 years. There at Fort Cochin, you have a Jewish Synagogue too.
