I am still amazed at how these sound for the prize. I actually think they sound better than a lot of higher end cymbals...at least in KZread vidoes. It makes me wonder if I'm missing something though. If offered for free, I would take these over high end Sabians.

I had a a 21” Paiste PST5 and 16” PST5 crash when I first started drumming. I’ll be honest. For the music that I usually play they have an off putting tone to them that makes them kinda boring to me. It doesn’t have many complex tones I can get out of it and it sounds the same no matter what kind of stick definition I give it. They are however very consistent and pretty heavy so I can see them being used well for rock or metal. Paiste cymbals in general are very consistent. But the PST5 did not work for me for jazz music. B8 bronze cymbals have their place in a lot of music but B20 bronze is obviously the better choice because they tend to have more complex sounds. Also having darker cymbals for jazz like Zildjian K series or Sabian HHX or AAX cymbals is the better choice, but they are considerably more expensive. I’m not saying the PST5 is a bad cymbal. I used them for a long time until I finally bought a used Zildjian A custom ride. And shortly there after I bought an entire new drum set that came with lots of Sabian AAX and HHX cymbals and I quickly fell in love with their sound. And since then the old PST5 cymbals that started my career have been sitting in a cymbal case ever since. Maybe I’ll get them back out for another try. Or I might do some custom hammering or lathing to change its sound. I’ve got nothing to lose, those cymbals are super cheap used.
