Painting Oranges Slices in Gouache
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Follow along as I paint a still life painting of oranges in gouache. The overall time was almost exactly an hour, but I have condensed it into twenty minutes.
Paper: Arches coldpress watercolor paper (8x10)
Paint: Variety of brands, Turner Design Gouache, Winsor & Newton, M. Graham

Everyone loves a good orange!
How beautifully done.. you can see the translucence of the slices... Perfect!!
I love oranges and I know I would eat the reference ones halfway lol, incredible work!
The confidence of your brush strokes is astounding, that’s what really makes this piece for me!
bravo, like thunder in the night
Thank you Heather. Its like the glow o ffc watercolor and the buttery feeling of oil.
2 minutes in im already so awed
I have not enjoyed using gouache because for me it's a lot of work. When I see your wonderful process I realize that it's actually supposed to be a lot of work, - that it takes a lot of work to get 'there'. I was under the impression that you had to achieve everything quickly and accurately, - that overworking or correcting led to mush. Now I see that persistence pays off. Thanks for showing all the details in the way you work. It's very encouraging and your work is wonderful.

It is possible to deaden your paint. You have to be strategic in how you apply it and understand layering to get that luminosity--not just tired paint.

I'm very struggling with gouche right now! I came from watercolor...and you know, you need water, and when I see many Artist using gouche in opaque technique, with a few water, literally feel very frustrated, I feel like I'm dying, I feel anxious, OMG! Its horrible! Because gouche its not the same like watercolor, its seems a little like watercolor, but it's not!and how can I switch my brain from watercolor to gouche?that is the question!🙈😵🤯
I like how ur brush just started dancing with every touch u give to ur paint
Beautiful piece!!! I love it!❤❤❤
I like how this video is straightforward. The work speaks for itself!
Thank you for editing together such a good speedpaint that's not too fast! Also classical soundtrack is *chef kiss*
wonderful choice of music!
Your technique is remarkable. Subscribed!
Thanks to the dog , the angle is even better to me at the end. Wonderfull work, love to do this kind of studies, i should do more, and your work is pushing me to start some new ones.
That turnout was amazing, so beautiful to watch the process :D
great, learnt alot, thanks. Like how the effect of light passing through the translucent orange slice is depicted
These oranges look good enough to eat :) Beautiful painting, thank you for sharing your process. I love to see how other people use gouache!

Sorry I stole your line. I only read the comments after my comment had been made. They do look so real and so juicy and yet obviously a painting - everything combined to make a blooming masterpiece.
Beautiful painting, you captured their deliciousness to a degree that watching the painting unfold made my mouth start watering lol. Lovely work!
Awesome! Love the composition, and detail work, all of it.
Brilliant demonstration!
Hi Heather, I'm quite new to your channel and just wanted to acknowledge how gifted and skillful you are. I'm a gouache artist too, and what I would give to produce work as beautiful as yours 🙏 I try hard every day. 😕 Thanks for sharing. Kindest regards, Mary from Australia 😎🤗

That front off-shaped slice turned out so wonderful. The whole painting is wonderful. Nice to listen to up beat classical music too.
This is a fantastic use of colour and composition. You have inspired me to paint oranges and lemons
Bravo.
Really inspiring!!
Wow beautiful! After a while it looks like you are painting on top of real oranges! Great work! 👍💖👏👏👏
Wow, Your work is awesome. Your light is so beautiful. Seems like your paper stays wet a long time too. I love how it works. Well balanced. Thank you for sharing.

Wonderful
Fascinating process! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous art with guache. I’m doing some exploration with it as a newbie. Stretching.
Beautiful! Look good enough to eat. 🍊🍊🍊🙂
Well done mate
Wow 😯 very beautiful, keep up
Well done!
Beautiful. When looking at other gouache painting I was really not impressed but your painting is simply beautiful. It is something that encourages me to try it. thanks
Wow, if you scan through stopping like every two run-time minutes, you can really see, particularly in that farthest right slight visible on the model, how the quality and direction of life changes, changing that shadow tone quite a bit throughout the session.
nice job😁
Instead of saying she can run circles around my art skills she can paint circles around me...... Dag. WELL Done.
Great!
I swear I smelled the oranges that's how good this is
AA THIS MAKES ME WANT TO PAINT BUT i love this alot you earned a follower
Wow.. Great
Wow! This piece looked great at almost every part of the video. You could’ve stopped and it still would’ve been a beautiful painting…as good as any oil painting! Love it! Mostly in one color, but have started to use gouache in the backgrounds and in the details a bit. You have made me more interested in pursuing gouache, or at least in a mixed media painting for now. I also love still life and can hardly find any being done in Watercolour don’t know why… Thanks so much for sharing.
Madster at work

I literally cried watching this what the fuck the most beautiful oranges I-
Just found this! Awesome. The translucent quality and overall painting is something I didn't know you could achieve in gouache. Do you always us freshly squeezed paint or reconstituted? My gouache tends to get an ugly top of fuzz when trying to keep them moist in a closed tight palette.
It's good to come to my channel Thank you for the compliment Also You are my eternal friend

Wonderful! How do you keep your paint from drying out on the palate? My Winsor Newton gouache dries in under a minute.
How do you keep them so juicy? They aren't the same once they have dried out but yours are gorgeous here. x
Watching you paint this is art itself. Perfectly performed, just like the music. Pretty much ruined my self esteem lol think I just go back to draw with my pens, I can handle those. Or I just need to find easier tutorials and type beginner in the search bar lol.
It is really beautiful and thanks for sharing. But was very difficult to follow. Please do voice over if possible.
Awesome! New to gouache. Questions: Can you use mediums for blending with them? Do the pallets become real messy fast? Do they mold? Are they permanent when dried? Can you finish with a varnish? THANKS!!
