Hi PLASMO, I love your videos. I'm building 1/25 Dodge Challenger now. It's my first serious project and first time I'm using airbrush and acrylic paints. I had previous (teen years, and I'm almos 40 now) experience with 1/72 and 1/48 airplane and helicopter models but I always used normal brushes and humbrol oil enamels... with poor results. One problem I have is paint on the car's body has moire/orange peel effect. I used Tamiya fine surface primer first, sanded it with 1800 grit sandpaper, then I applied few thin coats of Tamiya Acrylic (X) paint thinned with pure IPA. I sanded last coat with 2200 and then 3000 sandpaper unfortunately it ate through the paint on the sharp edges of the car body and the orange peel is still there... what's the problem? Was the paint too thick? Too thin? Or the layers were too thick? How long should I wait before applying next layer of paint? I have some experience with painting a real cars (with pretty good results) but this seems like a whole different story...

Great job David!! What would you say about AK paint? Can you tell us some pros and cons, and how they are in comparison to hobby color? What would you choose?
@idaemonplasmo
7 жыл бұрын
Ak, Vallejo, Citadel are acrylic, and Tamiya or Mr colors are lacquer. This says Mig so that must be true. I still think that lacquer is much better for airbrush painting. I feel confident with Tamiya or Mr colors. Maybe it is just habit. You can achieve perfect result with both types. Anyway, acrylic colors are perfect for a paint brush. lacquer not.

Lavochkin models are nice too, it's a great plane, maybe you can find some historic camos and build a model, late modifications like la 11 are nice too

Hey David, what tape do you find best for covering up areas you don't want sprayed? Whenever I try to use tape, it usually rips up the paint underneath and, as I'm sure you know, this is extremely annoying.
@idaemonplasmo

I use Tamiya masking tapes for many years without problems. And for some wide masking electrical tape because Tamiya is not cheap.

Excellent model. What grade sandpaper do you use after the varnish? Thank you
Did you use any surfacer/primer for those AK colors?
@idaemonplasmo

No, and I had a problem with it. I do not use these colors anymore because they are not resilient.
More videos. Wohoo!
Great work! Have you ever considered making them without the landing gear deployed?

Hey man, I have a question: How do you keep your model collection clean? Once in a while dust has to be cleaned, do you use any products in particular that aren't aggresive to paints and finishes? Thanks in advance, keep up the excellent work!

I have a display case with glass doors, so I do not have a problem with dust. Anyway You can use some ordinary duster
Hello David, I have some difficulties with my modells. Iam using an air brush to and last time when i used it there was a problem and there was a rust on the surfice of the moddle like bubbles. It was really ugly and tha paint came off like it was just like powder. Do you have any ideas what could cousd this, maybe there was a problem with the paint or maybe the preasure was to high. I would be pleased if you could help me out.
Have you tried using MIG ammo paints? Is it much different than AK ?
@idaemonplasmo
7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is different, No just kidding. Vallejo, AK, citadel, MIG are almost same. You can combine each color together. Choos what is available in your country.
@StaticModel

I doubt You can compare citadel and MIG, cause MIG ammo is horrible for regular paintbruh...

Hi..!! Im looking for the videos part 1 and 2, where are they..? Thanks..! Im starting this kit, but with the decals for the Franz Stiegler 109G-6, to honour him.

where do you buy your stuff, online or in a local shop??
@idaemonplasmo

I do not buy them. AK send me all stuff as sponsors gift. Only Ak. I buy rest in a local shop.
Great job David!! What would you say about AK paint? Can you tell us some pros and cons, and how they are in comparison to hobby color? What would you choose?
@idaemonplasmo
Been looking forward to watching this since I was notified earlier today. Guessing your videos are now sponsored in some way with AK? Great video.

AK RLM 83 is a blue color??? Why this interpretation???

No právě s tím jsem měl taky problém. Chce to trochu retarderu (zpomalovače schnutí). KAždopádně tento typ barev je spíše na štětec. Barva je hodně gumová a osobně preferuji Tamiya nebo mr color.
konečně první !😅 vyplatilo se nejít do školy 😅😅
