    Great video. Yeah, that's about how you do it. I recommend to basically learn to draw maps. I did the layering on my weathered, post-Sarlacc Boba a bit differently, but the process overall was the same.

    Holy hell man welcome back! Your videos were insanely helpful before! After painting a layer, how long do you wait before putting on maskol? And then how long do you let that dry before painting the next layer? And lastly how long do you let that layer dry before peeling up the masking?

  • @BlaidonProps

    @BlaidonProps

    6 жыл бұрын

    foosbabaganoosh1 it can depend on a few things, what the temperature is, mix ratio of the thinners, how heavy the spray is. I usually do light layers, and wait about an hour before each coat, maybe a bit more if it’s tacky to the touch. With the maskol you can actually see when it’s dried by the dark purple colour it goes, usually by the time I mix the paint and set the brush up it’s dry enough to paint over. Hope that helps.

    That looks incredible, how much Maskol did you use in this project? and did you need to reapply each coat, or could you have just added more on top. Was the re-application more to get the accurate painted areas from reference?

  • @BlaidonProps

    @BlaidonProps

    Tyler Matchett thank you. So not a lot actually, a bottle of maskol will last me a good 3-4 helmets. It looks like I’m using a lot but the bottle lasts. You can of course leave the maskol on between layers. But I find the longer the paint is on the harder it can be to remove.

    First of all - I love this film. Its going to help me a lot with my Project. Thank you. BUT - i feel you are skipping something important. If you see the helmet at 08:25 - there is a large open area of metallic silver with no Paint, then when you show off the result at 08:30 the same part has a lot more flicks of paint on it, making it look A LOT better. But what happened between here, because you must have added this?

  • @BlaidonProps

    @BlaidonProps

    4 жыл бұрын

    Uxorious I have a full series with commentary showing all the processes involved in individual videos. All I did during that step is hand paint in those extra details using the colours you already see me spray. I find it’s much easier to hand paint them in, rather than mask around them with the masking fluid. Hope that clears it up.

    Google Name it basically latex. It acts as a liquid masking tape, there’s numerous names and brands. I usually use Humbrol maskol, or Vallejo masking fluid. Both are really good. Hope that helps.

    few quick questions - how come you don't spray the whole helmet silver to start with? As doesn't silver base layer show through on all parts? also, why do you remove the latex each time instead of just extending it? Does this make it easier to keep track of where you are? cheer great work btw!

  • @BlaidonProps

    @BlaidonProps

    4 жыл бұрын

    Krak Fox so I only spray the silver in areas as I’m handling the helmet a lot and don’t want to tarnish or mark it. You can of course paint the whole helmet, I just choose to do it this way. As for the latex, I find the longer you leave it on the helmet, the more stubborn it is to remove. I like to do it while the paint is still slightly tacky. That way it comes off in large sections, and you get a nice clean edge. Also it’s easier to transfer the damage on to rather than over a lumpy latex surface.
