Painting a Panzer IV [28mm]

Paint the Warlord panzer IV in grey? Sure! Why not! Who doesn’t like a nice tank in panzergrau. I haven’t done that for a really long time, and never on video before. I’m pretty happy with the result though!

"some of you would say that i painted it the wrong colour, but they are wrong because I painted it the colour i wanted to" that are the words of the real model maker👍👍👍

To some extent (or a large one to be honest...) I'm a rivet counter - but that's how I've found a huge interest in history and attempts to recreate a certain tank/plane/vehicle/figure at a specific date/event. This has turned my modelling into something more than what I was doing before and it pleases me. Researching each build beforehand is almost more enjoyable than the actual builds themselves?! I also ignore everything every now and then and just make things that perhaps could've happened if things were different - and here's the thing: a scale model is only a canvas. We build and paint them as we want. There are no rules! If you think a certain set of decals makes your model look the way you want then go for it! The same goes for paint and weathering. So don't say you're sorry to "rivet counters" because this is your model, not theirs, and you make it how you want it! In the end of the day it's just a piece of plastic with some paint on it and if someone gets upset over it they should have a good think about life in general... ;) Oh, and nice work by the way!

Jens Andree im along those lines. Im also keen on making the models replicate historical footage. For example, hobbyists today in my opinion over weather their projects During ww2 the heavy armor was brand new, other then rusty tracks and battle damage they did not look like they were resting at the bottom of the ocean. Military markings and colors are a whole other can of worms..

Love your paint job, especially the tracks. The fact you are using a late war gun barrel with a early war colour scheme is pushing my OCD to level 9. A lot of people shy away from using enamel washes, but like yourself, I have found them very useful.

Thank you for this video, I have a backline of vehicles needing for a proper paint job and this helped me immensely with my morale enough that I finally got started on the project.

You should try priming in red oxide and then hairspray chipping on the next model you do! It's loads of fun and very effective! Looks good man!

GiftofChaosStudio which do you recommend for red oxide. Or just prime with it?

Absolutely stunning work as always. Desperately need to get some but the Warlord one is still impossible to get. So waiting on Rubicon.

Something I've seen done by other tank modellers for bare metal, rather than paint, they use a soft pencil and draw it on. I have to say it looks better and if you're going to use a varnish then it couldn't wear off during handling.

I'm gonna be that guy... Panzer IV H would've had steel road wheels and would've been painting in Dunkelgelb as Dunkelgreu was no longer used after 1942... The Panzer IV H came into production in 1943... If you had not added the Tanks on the right hand side this would've been perfect

If you want to drive a rivet counter up the wall, pick apart his pronunciation. Sir, don't tell me about the uniform colors or camo scheme or pouches on my Panzerfaust team when you pronounce Panzerfaust like an Amerikaner. :D
