I print out the image the size I want canvas to be, lay tracing paper over it. I put dots where the corners are. I take canvas and measure outer line of the image and mask off outer edge. When I put canvas over i can line up corner dots with tape at corners. 😊

Love your videos! After painting, do you use a finish over the top of your work before it gets stitched? My painting never seems to get quite the same sheen as canvases I purchase already painted.

No I don't, mine are all matte paint. The painting companies may use a satin finish paint or seal with satin clear.😊

Do you freehand a painting on paper beforehand to decide on composition and color?

No, the person had a pillow from their wedding for color scheme. And I have tons of hydrangea reference pics I have shot over the years. I will be doing another custom painting on video of someone's home. I will use color reference pics for that.

Yes, I was disappointed when i saw how far it was. I promise closer for next one! And no time lapse. It will be your job to fast forward.😆
