Paint your Tactical Gear! - How to do NIR Camo yourself - Infrared Camouflage DIY
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
#camouflage #tactical #paintjob
With a mixture of chalk and some paint, you can easily paint your pouches, backpack and other nylon gear. This can also be used for other equipment, but here I focus on the camouflage of tactical gear. The colors are available at most hardware stores. Combined with the chalk you can paint over nylon gear and change it's appearance. With the right mix you will also achieve camouflage in the near infrared spectrum (as seen with night vision devices).
Mix your colors and try them out before applying them to your equipment!
Some reasons to use removable paint:
- Your unit does not allow to apply "permanent" Paintjob to your Equipment
- Tactical gear in decent colors is not available
- The gear does not have IRR safe colors
- Money and access to proper colors is limited

In WWI and all the way up til the end of WWII, the British army actually issued a type of paint for the soldiers to paint their webbing the proper color. (Because it didn't come in the proper color.) It was called Blanco. This is basically Blanco for the modern age, super cool.

US Marines in the Pacific also Blanco'd their web gear. Many units made it a requirement.

I had no clue but it sounds like a wise idea. This was back when there was a little bit of thought given toward not being wasteful. The wasteful in times of war could spell disaster.

@@_c_y_p_3 I think it was more about giving the troops extra things to do, especially in the case of a peacetime army. It was a carryover from the days of white leather gear (which is why it was called blanco) where you had to periodically re-coat the stuff with the white clay to keep it looking smart.
dude you are an absolute hero. thank you
I use Ritt dye and tie up my gear like you do for tie dye, for larger pieces, I make the dye double or tripple strength and either brush it on or put it in a spray bottle and spray it on in camo patterns. I also use Rustoleum camo spray paint for fabrics and either Brownell's Alumahyde in the rattle can or KG Gunkote in an airbrush for metals, polymers and sometimes cloth, depending on what it is and it's use.

what spray paint is anti - IR?
Fantastic video, I really enjoy the concept here. Certainly preferable to spray paint
This is great stuff thank you!
I can't believe I never thought of this. Mixing paint with chalk is pretty much like a permanent mud, which also looks better.
Thank you .
US Marines (probably other orgs too) had an interesting idea during ww2 pacific theater. Took their tan uni's and twisted em up... soaked em in very strong coffee. Og modern tie-dye.
Sehr informatives Video.
Hey, have you ever tried using matte clear spray paint on things that shine under IR? Been thinking about trying it, but thought I'd ask if you'd done it already.

What type of paint and chalk did you use?
always found krylon hunter camouflage paint (NIR) painting workes greast under green eye NVG (not tried with whithe phosper) the norm wear added to the 3d camo effect, a 2 & 3 coat post field wear really worked great, rifles, packs. web etal
No idea why I need this but i do thank you lol
Hello Ripperkon which device do yo use for your camo tests with IR? Which devices are good to test such IR camo tests?
What type of paint did you use that you can't see or hardly see with the naked eye but could see with the IR?
Super Tipp
I spray painted my black multi tool case with rustoleum a few months ago and it just sucked the paint up and is really blotchy. I’ll have to your technic. Great videos, I just found you and subscribed. Thanks!
Wonder if climbing chalk would work. I just read they might add limestone, essential oils or drying agents
What spray paint did you use?
What are the exact materials used for making semi-permanent paint?
rit rye, UV scotch guard also reduce IR. I looked at them once without in IR and without not proven but they do not glow with it now thats for sure.

Danke.

@@ripperkon so you need chalk, yellow, red, and blue water based paint correct? What type of chalk?
Great tip! Quick questions: - Do you use chalk like kids use on pavement or teachers on blackboards? Or is it like climbers/weightlifter chalk? - Water based interior paint? -Rough estimate of mix? 20/80? 10/90? Kind regards Nato allied.

Pavement chalk is not 100% calcium carbonate, which you would need to use for this type of mixture. Kid’s chalk has the same problem. You can use a regular chalk, just not the kid’s version.
Im pretty sure that is going to paint anything the molle touch later
Spraypaint will rub off, so use stuff that washes off? Got it.

Will different colors of Schlämmkreide produce different camoflage patterns under IR?

I think so. I have not tested all colors. But I assume, that some of them even could be highly reflective.
What kind of paint and chalk?
this is mud chalk paint in english. available off the shelf
Is there a way to make it permanent and not visible to the naked eye, if you want to paint it on camo for example

Try an abrasive clear coat. Like a matte clear. Use different types of cans and decide on your device edit: (decide while looking through your nvg on practice cloth) which looks better. Dont listen to the other guy. You know how impossible it is to paint exact color over digital pattern? Naw fam
Just use spray paint. Dark colours usually absorb IR.
good day, what is the name of the spray and paint please? Thank you
