Personally, I don't mind April's design. I was a little iffy about it at first, but I got used to it. I just hope her character is well written, and from what's been shown, I like it!

I appreciate the evolution of the brand but this iteration, much like the last one is definitely not for me. The 2012 series is the high point of non-comic Turtles imo. Thanks for all the videos Dan. Great job as always.

It is a very nice set! Was tempted to hold out for this one instead of getting the Turtles individually, but I’ll hold off on it for a while especially since it’s a bit of a trip for me to head to my local Target. I can’t imagine they won’t eventually release April single-carded either…but yeah, I’m not a fan of this redesign. Doesn’t look like her at all!

idk if I'll buy it. I have all of the standard carded figures except splinter. but honestly, if I see it in store, I probably will snag it lol. love these new designs for all the characters

I bought the ooze cruisin figures first instead of the single carded line because i couldn't find raph and mikey, so i grabbed the 6 pack and even managed to find a reissue shredder with a fixed stance so it wasn't really a total loss but I'm still gonna try to find the single card figures.

Not sure why but most reviewers of this set tend to forget to mention that this set also excludes the baby turtles as opposed to the single releases.

The Turtles have a SLIGHTLY less shiny shade of green as the plastic base as opposed to the originals.

Right now it’s at 25% they will probably do the WCW ring thing and add additional time since it’s failing now and you get more with the item besides the gates and ford explorer

Nice review! I was raised with the 80's videogame and cartoon, so to me April is the sexy chick with the yellow jumpsuit, but aside from that this new April as a toy is pretty cool. The turtles themselves look decidedly better in this iteration; I like the style from the new movie.

Though I don't dislike the turtle's design from the film I wasn't like "This is the best thing ever!" but you know the action figures for the four are really starting to grow on me!

I really have to see what's April's like in the movie before judging I don't really have much an opinion about the design since April was originally conceived non-white. And the black April and Rise is such a fun character

Although I do feel having her as a more mature presence (and this goes back to Mirage April) gives her a more interesting perspective compared to the teenage Turtles.

Only difference I see is the paint finish. Carded seems to have a glossier top coat seal. Could be why paint is rubbing as well

The skin tone of April is actually too dark. It’s actually supposed to be lighter as there is variation of her available with lighter skin.

I really hate the new movie. And for so many reasons it’s like they intended to piss me off with it. Some of the fighting was good but it also had this feeling like I’ve seen this whole movie before beat for beat. Like it’s copying another movie’s formula. And I don’t mean another TMNT, like something Pixar or Illumination or the lego movies. The toys are cool at least. Affordable and readily available. And we’re getting rereleases of old stuff thankfully.

I dont love the painted yellow plastic used on april, that is clearly visible at the joints. But with how problematic Brown plastic has been, maybe its for the best.

See, I have no issue with the race swap with April (especially given the character’s ambiguous complexion and coloring in the original comics) but I don’t like the new design, and don’t get the obsession with aging her down in modern incarnations. My biggest beef is the Rocksteady and Bebop designs in this series, they don’t work for me at all

​@@archmage7813well an interview with Eastman and Laird specifically state April is white. “If you ask me, I always saw April O’Neil as white,” said Laird. “As the co-creator of the character of April O’Neil, and as someone who has always imagined her as white, and very likely of Irish/Scottish/English ancestry.” so yeah she has a race. So yeah saying April has no race is completely false. So yeah making her black is exactly like making black panther white.

Yeah, but that's only Laird's side of the story, and quite frankly it doesn't hold up. Eastman is the one who both named and designed the appearance of April (based on his girlfriend and eventual wife April, who was African American). The initial concept art for April also shows that Eastman and Laird were originally toying with making her Asian. So Laird's claim that she was "always white" simply isn't true, and there is evidence to prove it.

The race swap on April isn’t my issue. They made her look like Velma from that terrible Mindy Kaling series.

You made the right choice omitting the Bay April.

Another thing they did was give April a bit of a muffin top which shouldn't be a problem

To be fair, Eastman and Laird never had a definite idea on what ethnicity April is. One guy said white, the other said black, but I’d say it’s a matter of which one you like, but theres no sense in being a jerk about it. And to be honest, she is the cutest April I’ve seen by far.

After seeing previews of the new movie, I have a new appreciation for the Michael Bay turtle movies.

Each version from the original comics through mutant mayhem is completely different. There is no such thing as perfectly. Each is th creation of that writer. @@dabradmp1In the original B&B comics it wasn’t clear what race April was, her skin tone definitely seemed to be darker. Additionally as pointed out in this video her character has been depicted as African-American previously. Really I would ask yourself why does it really matter what colour of skin a character has…like if you wanted to get really particular I doubt the turtles have ever had the exact same shade of green (I’m aware each brother has always been a different shade, though has it always been the same shade for that particular brother?)

April O'Neil is shorter then the original April O'Neil.

Instead if race swaooing characters I don´t get why they don´t just: 1. Create a "new" character in the sense that it has just a new name but in terms of personality and what it brings it´s the same thing as the original. For instance, instead of this character being April she could be "May" the first human friend the turtles make. And later on they can bring on April with a different personanality. 2- Create an actual new character. There could be the traditional April and this new one. And, who knows, if the character is written and interpreted well could be at the same level as April if not even more popular. And in case she becomes more popular can then become canon. PS Besides, funny thing that race bending just goes one way. I dare any company wo actually take a black character and swap them to white.

They made April black and fat I mean I understand race correction and being more inclusive but why are you race swapping characters that were already established as one race that’s not correcting that’s erasing history To really correct you would need to create new characters that did not already have a mold or a look make a new ethnic character they don’t have to do this they don’t have to remake every character they need to create new ones that’s how you create real change and growth and correction

April O'neil was originally black in the comics and named after a mixed-race woman that the creator was dating. The story goes that April was partially inspired by Kevin Eastman's girlfriend at the time, a biracial woman named April.

That's a misconception, April was always white. In the mirage issue #2 she was white with straight red/brown hair. In issue #4 there's a page where she clearly state she got a permanent and dye her hair black since it was extremely popular in the 80s. But yes the name was of the character was from Eastman girlfriend. You can see those if you look for the colorized version of the mirage comics. it was also later confirmed in an interview that she was white.

No, because supporting this in any way gives money to the companies that continue to ruin classic franchises.

with that logic, the 80s cartoon "runied" a classic franchise because it's nothing like the mirage comics. Your reasoning doesn't make sense. TMNT has so many iterations, even if you don't like this one, theres always the old stuff, or wait for a new iteration.
