Sure is! I had the exact same question about not doing Sewer Samurai Leo instead of a vintage Donnie remake. Especially since that Leo came out the same time as Space Cadet Raph back in the day. Still a really nice figure, just strange.

Also I think Paramount owns the rights to Star Trek as well so probably helped get the Donny figure made

I haven't seen much in terms of exclusives, but one thing I did see, and haven't seen anyone talk about, were these two-packs I saw one day. It's all of the basic figures, with one Turtle and one bad guy, and they had this "Collect and Connect" diorama in each set.

EVERYONE had Space Cadet Raph. In fact, Seeing his sword was the main thing that drove me too the box cause it smacked me with a nostalgia sack. Soooo happy to have picked this up and SO happy it even exists.

Love the Nostalgia Smacks!

Wow. This is the first TMNT line since the vintage that I felt really really seemed better. The sculpts, articulation, decent "bulkyness" yet keeping proportions correct, doing the fan costumes. They're just great. Also, I'm fine with the western theme going to Leo. Don was more nerdy, cowboy didn't really seem to fit him. I love the cowboy theme. And I bet you, if this line does well enough all four of them will get the samurai treatment. To tug at the nostalgia of turtles 3 fans.

Cute figures; especially Mikey's disguise since it suits him

i personally love that they made leo a cowboy because the pack is supposed to be silly

I love it especially Beach Mike. Just like the Classic Collection rereleased ones. I can't wait for the new Mutant Mayhem characters like Wingnut and Genghis Frog to compare.

The original Space Raphael came with that awesome blaster and sword.

My favorite is the cowboy Leo I think it’s funny they made him a Donnie variant it still looks good!

I love this pack especially the Spock Donnie I have it but haven’t opened it yet I was planning on opening it today but stuff came up so it’ll have to wait till another day.

Beach Combin’ Mike is my all time favorite tmnt figure. It’s traveled all over with me and has a ton of sentiment. This new one will be taking the place of that figure, so the old one can be retired to safely stay home. I’d hate to lose it!

I watch all your videos man. Big fan. I had commented on one of your other videos about how good this set was and really cheap too I only gave 30 bucks for it less than the regular release. I knew you couldn't go without these glad you found them.

Hopefully for fans and collectors, they'll release more variants, and we'll get a Sewer Samurai Leo. I'd love to see this line continue if only for that, because I love the samurai variant figures. I'd love to see a Usagi figure for this line as well.

These figures look really cool

“Probably a communicator.” Who can spot the non-Trekkie? JK, Dan, that’s a tricorder in TOS land. If he had a communicator, it would look like a large flip phone and attach to his belt.

I get why they didn't go with Chief Leo, but you're 100% right that not using Leo, the Sewer Samurai in his place is a BIG missed opportunity!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Leo's forearms are attached on the wrong side. They're all like that.

I have recently been seeing huge stock of this at Walmart. Single figs, two packs, the bikes with figures and all kinds of miscellaneous stuff like kids shoes etc. These look pretty neat and I especially like that Raph! I had him as kid and he was a fav! Really unsure why they did Leo based from a Donnie? That is honestly just dumb! Also love the troll Donnie as I had him as well! My mom was a huge treasure troll collector and got Donnie for me

Great review. I'm really loving this set. I hope get more variant packs. I still don't like the leg articulation. I feel like I'm going to break something when posing them.

That's because Paramount is the parent company to Nickelodeon. And why Chris Pine appears in Mutant Mayhem as Kirk in the 3 Chris' skit.

I bought this pack a few days ago just for Donatello. Michelangelo is the second best in the set. Raph is okay, and Leonardo's weapons can even fit into the holsters properly

Just got out of the movie with my brothers and it was freaking awesome. I have no clue where to look to see what is and isn’t available in terms of exclusives. Really my only knowledge of what I can get is from looking on your channel. Is there a checklist of what’s been released so far for this line or anything like that?

It’s a great fun pack. Love it. Hope they do more. Wish Super7 would do some of the more wacky variants…..

Great review as always Dan! However, I do have kind of an issue with the Donatello figure, that being how skinny his limbs are. He’s wearing a Star Trek uniform yet unnaturally looks skinnier than the basic Donnie, which is especially weird seeing as the rest of the turtles don’t have that same problem. Overall though, the set looks great! Raph is my favorite too.

i wish they didnt make walmart and target exclusives because it means i cant get them since we dont have target or walmart here in sweden

i was able to remove donnie and mikeys glases they arnt glued in very well

I got these awhile ago. Definitely nostalgic. Don was the cowboy, though. Not Leo. Still a tight set, nonetheless. 😊

I would have loved an update to savage (Conan) Leo.

I just read an interview with the director of Mutant Mayhem. TUrns out there is an earlier version of the movie where the turtles went to high school a lot earlier and this is from the scene where the turtles attend a part dressed up in costumes inspired by the vintage toys. THat being said, it's probably easier to find a costume for a cowboy than a sewer samurai. And more imporantly, I think the samurai outfit, people relate to the TMNT 3 movie too much so saving that as a future gag probably.

I think it also helps Donnie being Spock, in that Paramount/Viacom owns Nickelodeon and Star Trek

I believe the reason why Leo is a Comboy now is because its a nod to the fact that many famous westerns are remakes if samurai films. And considering the toys are remakes ofolder ones it makes sense.

I understand why they didn't do Leo from that western disguise and I'm also assuming they didn't do Sewer Samurai Leo because they wanted to avoid having multiple characters from the same vintage wave (maybe? Otherwise people would have complained they did Samurai Leo and Space Cadet Raph but not Undercover Don and Sewer Surfin' Mike.). But I'm like you, if they wanted to avoid doing Chief Leo, why not pick one of the myriad other Leos in disguise? I'm hoping that each turtle being from different vintage waves means more are coming, but that's probably wishful thinking and I would have preferred they just homaged the original disguised turtles figures. All that said, these are really nice figures and at 30 bucks, it's a really good value.

This exclusive pack is really horrible, I really like tmnt, but not these types of weird inventions, greetings 💪🏻🇦🇷

It wouldve made more sense to make Leo the Chief Leo variant but with this whole pc culture thing thats everywhere and kinda ruining everything they went with the cowboy not the indian whatever

yeah make my day leo is a no go because ACAB. and chief leo is cultural appropriation. sewer samurai would have been awesome

I imagine they looked at their options, wanted the Western theme but the only Cowboy styled Leo they had in the old line (as well as I can remember) was the Chief Leo, and given the climate today there's absolutely no way Playmates was gonna touch making an American Indian Leonardo figure in 2023 so I guess they figured this would be the best compromise to get that spread of "cosplay" turtles. But, yeah I would have much rather had the Samurai Leo, just looks cooler than a cowboy.
