Thinking of painting my front door navy blue.. the front door is in direct sunlight most of the day..would love to see several different navy blue samples in bright sunlight..also ..maybe a video on front entry doors..a lot of people on my block are painting their exterior doors with a pop of color.. I enjoy all of your videos..valuable information ..thank you

Hello Kylie! You answered one of my questions on KZread a few months ago and I was ecstatic! So thank you! Would you endorse this combo? BM Nimbus walls in eggshell, Nimbus kitchen cabinets in satin, Cambria Britannica countertops, white subway tile backsplash with grey grout, Chantilly lace trim, medium-light white oak floors. (all already done) Just need to pick the right navy blue island color. (West facing) Does Hale Navy pair well with the rest? Newbury Port blue? Right track or need to pivot? I'd like to stick with BM since I'm using their BM Advance. Thank you! You've already helped me so much!

Hi ..i love Hale Navy and got a sample in egg shell to paint my old kitchencabinet..loved it...then got a quart in semi gloss since i was told that's what to use for cabinets and i put it on and it was horrible..lighter and more grey..i asked the store if that's aupposed to be that way and they blamed the different sheen..i know there qull be a difference but is it really supposed to be like a big difference in color..the eggshell was dark and blue and just gorgeous..the semi gloss really different..you can tell on cabinets next to each other

Uggghh, this is one of those things that drives me crazy too! The thing is, yes, the sheen can affect how a colour looks for sure, but the RECIPE of the paint actually changes as you shift. The sample pots are usually done in a lower quality paint, whereas cabinet paint is a higher quality/different LINE of paint. BTW, if you aren't done EVERYTHING, I actually recommend satin finish on cabinets, to avoid the glossy/reflective look, but each to their own! If you do get another one done, I would ask them to dry a sample for you and compare it to the one you love. If it's not good, I would hope they'd be able to adjust it so that it hits your happy place!

Hi Danica, I'm not familiar with that, but it's likely more about your siding colour as well as any brick/stone on your home :)

Would Hale Navy pair well with Oxford White?

You bet it would!

Hale Navy is a beautiful color and I've been debating on doing an accent wall or two in my home. My concern is my home can be a bit dark especially since the back of my home faces south/west and I have to keep the shutters closed in the Summer to help keep it cool. And like you stated in your video I'm afraid that it could go black. Also, my home isn't traditional on the inside at all and I was wondering if this color does look a little more traditional.

Go for it. I just painted a kitchen island in H.N and its such a great color. It would be perfect for a accent wall. It won't read black at all.

Tonya Matthews thank you for the response. Did you have any issues with “flashing” with this color? That’s one of my concerns using a deep color like this. Also, where I live builders spray orange peel texture on the walls and ceiling. To me rich colors like this don’t look as good as they do on smooth surface walls.

@@markep8458 No flash. I live in Virginia Beach. I painted the cabinet i used a grey primer on bare wood prior to painting. I actually built the cabinet. Heres a video that shows the color pretty accurately. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4p2rq6ql6_SiKw.html 8:31 it reads more toward a smokey grey blue tone than black. Hope that helps.

Thanks how would you compare Benjamin Moore's Old Navy to this color?

Good question as they are reasonably comparable. Old Navy just has LESS gray in it, so it's more punchy and powerful, whereas Hale Navy is a bit more muted, while still LEGIT navy blue!

Hi if I painted my bathroom sw sea salt can I paint my cabinets repose grey? My countertops are white.

I think Repose Gray is too light to be partnered with Sea Salt. I would go for an LRV closer to the 30 range.

Avoid Flashing by using the correct primer. Flashing is due to poor quality Drywall and Wall Texture not to mention application errors (i.e. not keeping a "Wet Edge" with Matte). All Sheens will Flash, even Matte!!

This is so true! Dark colours are TOUGH to paint and its takes a darned good painter to due a good application :). That being said, I've even seen flat white ceilings flash!

I thought Hale Navy was from Sherwin Williams?

Nope! Sherwin Williams has Naval, that would be the closest in name :)
