Pain Doesn't Care Either 06 27 22 mSw

a Point of Clarification...
I’m not sure anyone starts out wanting to share their experience with pain. By nature, pain is personal. And, yet the world is filled with sad songs and depressing poetry documenting just about every kind of pain there is.
Apparently, the need to share our discomfort is Primal. Universal. Communal. And communicating that reality seems to help reduce its burden.
That isn’t why I wrote this post, however. I’ve been dealing with Post-Herpetic Neuralgia Shingles pain long enough for it to become familiar. An unwanted and uninvited companion who nevertheless, is always at your side.
I wrote about it as I have before. As a warning. A chance for you to avoid the same misfortune I’ve had to endure for almost two years. You see, there are really two distinctly different kinds of pain. The kind you might be able to avoid and the kind - by your actions or inaction - you invite.
My Shingles pain couldn’t be avoided. It was the result of an artificially suppressed immune system. There is a vaccine. But I couldn’t take it until long after my transplant. After the virus had already presented.
Your experience could be profoundly different - if you’ve received the Shingles vaccine.
So, here it is. Presented for your consideration. My experience… Not to help me deal with the distraction and debilitating realities of my Post-Herpetic Neuralgia. But to present you with an alternative. A way to avoid what otherwise may be unavoidable.
