Wow that grey nylon strap combo is so good! Love how all the different straps look on it. Very close to buying it.
Finally Pagani fixed that aweful clasp 🎉

You also have to figure out who's selling you the actual version you ordered. I just got the PD-1762 V4 and have no idea if it's the actual version. It has the second/GMT hands that are the same length and just past the hour dots but short of the minute graduations. The minute hand is just slightly shorter, but goes past the hour dots. Nice watch though.
For the first time, I really am convinced that they're listening. When I heard that they had come out w/ the NH34 GMT variation of this homage, I assumed that they had just swapped movements. Now I see that it was anything but that. Great review. Hope all is well Steve. Cheers...
I liked the shots so much that i downloaded this video unto my phone at 1080p. EXCELLENT WORK. and. A Good Watch.

Thank you, dre
I just bought the V2 this week for $75 on Ali. What the V2 does better: (IMO) -Price. (About 1/2) -Hands. (More like the current Rolex) -Size. (42mm like the current Explorer II) -Clasp. (Prefer the push button) -The V2 Pearl movement is more visually pleasing. What the V3 does better: -Lume. Better, but still pretty bad. -The Chinese made Seiko NH35 movement is probably more reliable, although it is pretty crude looking. Should have eliminated the exhibition case back. -Cyclops. I have heard the cyclops has better Q.C. and is not as crooked as on some V2s. Nice review! Didnt know this watch was such a strap monster. Thanks!
I hope you can get your grail watch one day, if you don’t have it already. This is a cool watch from Pagani here, but nothing beats the real thing. 😊

Thank you, sir. One day I'll get there....still $8K for a watch is tough to swallow
Very nice watch and great review Steve. Definitely great value and for me that orange strap is perfect on it. I hear there is a $77 (sale price) Corgeut with the NH34, wonder how it compares to this one..
@EscapeWheel
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I e seen that one. I know it uses a sub midcase, so fatter lugs and crown guards, so it pretty much immediately put me off from it. Should be pretty decent though. Corgeut is always great value.
Hope they start shipping all their oyster bracelets with brushed center links.
Also Steve we need links to the purchases you made for your personal explorer homage, love the thinner handset too. A video putting it together/ review wouldn't hurt 😅

@@EscapeWheel thanks Steve. Waiting on Lacz Denton to make their V2 intramatic homage
Came from a random ass Reddit comment. Stayed for the knowledge and quality this guy puts out! Love you your work! As a beginner, would you recommend these to get into watch modding in terms of custom dials and hands since the case and crystal are decent quality? Or would they not be a simple "plug n play" change?
@EscapeWheel
Жыл бұрын
I believe the dial on this one isn't the standard 28.5mm, so that would be the only non-plug-n-play part. I'd say go with Tandorio as a starter...IIRC most of their stuff is standard size and NH35 compatible.
This video is actually pretty good

I like that they started using a better movement, but they dropped the size and doubled the price. On Amazon, these new ones are now around $230...
Thank you for the review. An observation: How was the timekeeping on wrist? The timegrapher is all well and good in a certain position but based on experience the nh35 for example is pretty unstable..... Its actual error can be vastly different from the grapher.....
@EscapeWheel
Жыл бұрын
Agreed. on wrist over a couple of days it was only slightly fast (couple of seconds) I typically leave my watches face up over night, and I do desk duty, so again, face up a lot....which is the position I run my "timegrapher" in.
Overall looks good, but I guess gonna wait for a V2. The hands could be 5-10% longer and thicker, lollipop seconds hand could be a little smaller lumed part, the indicies should be white not gray... Great review!

Good to see Pagani improve. Still need a better lume, especially for the price (at 190$). At 135$, with the same lume than San Martin, that would be a very good deal.

@@XjohnjohnX88 nice! Still one of my faves!
The cyclops date window magnifies the date too much, and has all kinds of reflections in it making it difficult to read the date. The GMT hand on my copy is slightly misaligned by about 10 minutes. Other than that it is an excellent watch for the money
The hands kill it for me. Was so tempted by the V2 because of the nice big hands, but waited for the 40mm because that would fit me better. And now they made the hands smaller again. Oh well, bought a San Martin SN0054 to scratch the itch, lol.
@EscapeWheel

Now they just need to make a black version!
POLAR POLAR POLAR 🎉
Steve, the Steeldive SD1993 NH34 GMT is larger (41mm, 13.5mm thick), but with MUCH better lume, better bezel action and bracelet. Worth a review?
@EscapeWheel
Жыл бұрын
definitely. I have considered it for sure. may snag one before the end of the sale
Pagani should use this case, crown and bracelet for their sub homages too. Much thinner lugs, smaller crown than that monstrosity they have, female end links and better clasp, no risk of breaking the springbar every time you adjust the bracelet
@EscapeWheel
Жыл бұрын
That's not a bad idea at all. 👍
I'm thinking if I can get this for the right price and maybe buy a custom dial, it could be exactly what I'm after
@EscapeWheel

the dial is really my only let-down of the watch, so a custom one would be great.
So you mean that the circle index hours are mounting instead of flat ? I hve seen the pd batman pict, did they use the mounting index too ??
@EscapeWheel
Жыл бұрын
Correct. The index itself is rounded, but also the lume in the index is rounded.
How does this compare to the Sugess White GMT you reviewed, i love them both but can only afford 1, which is the better quality buy? Many thanks

I have the same grail watch as you and i am waiting for so long for a good 40mm homage. I was thinking about the Parnis but the lug to lug on that was over 52 and thats a lot for me. And now when the finally made one with great movement and a FEMALE ENDLINKS they made the hands and especially the hour hand short! Come on Pagani! Also do you thing the bracelet will fit for 17 cm wrist, because you said that there is just two links left to remove? Thanks for the great review.

I would say so. the finishing is better for sure. the proportions of the crown guards, crown, and lugs all seem better on this one as well. @@EscapeWheel Sorry about that. Every other reviewer, including the Pagani specs says 18mm. It's perfectly legitimate, so my mistake. Thanks.
@EscapeWheel

@@sam9242 no worries. Are you maybe watching the old model? The 42mm with the Pearl movement. IIRC that one was 18mm. But yes, I'm measuring the last links before the clasp. That's the width we would need to know to swap a clasp out.

@@EscapeWheel No, it was just the link measurement you use. I really enjoy the selection of brands you look at. You don't include Parnis. Are they out now? Parnis is still around, I've reviewed a couple since starting the channel. They kind of got run off by brands like Pagani Design matching their build quality but updating their movements and offering real water resistance. I still enjoy their watches though.
