A May Day Garland custom as formerly found throughout England - the maypole, collecting greenery, singing the May song, collecting money. Plus a hobby horse custom which has probably been transferred at some point from Christmas to May Day - Christmas hobby horse customs being found across England and Wales.

I've just watched a film of 1932 May Day. So much more civilised ! And no whites or blue ribbons
