PADI Rescue Exercise 7 | Unresponsive Diver at the Surface | Mouth-to-Mouth and Pocket Mask

How to respond to an unresponsive diver at the surface? Both the PADI Rescue Exercise 7 mouth-to-mouth and mouth-to-pocket mask versions are explained for your PADI Rescue Diver course, Divemaster course, IDC course, and the PADI Instructor Examination (IE).
In the first half of the video PADI Platinum Course Director Marcel van den Berg explains step by step the mouth-to-mouth version and in the second half of the video the mouth-to-pocket mask version.
The PADI Rescue Diver course has 10 exercises and PADI Rescue Exercise 7 is one of the most important rescue skills to master. That is why you also must perform this skill again in the PADI Divemaster Rescue Scenario and the PADI IDC Course. It is so important that PADI even evaluates the PADI Rescue Exercise 7 skill on the PADI IE which is the Diving Instructor Examination.
On the IE an Instructor Candidate will hear if they get mouth-to-mouth or the mouth-to-pocket mask versions, so it is important to practice them both during your PADI Divemaster and IDC Course.

Dag Marcel. Ik dacht bij CPR dat er geen mond op mond beademing meer mag gedaan worden of is dit anders bij duikers? We gaan binnenkort onze rescue divers cursus beginnen. Groetjes vanuit Dauin, Negros Oriental.

Always trained to remove own weights as first part of sequence, never the victim. My weight, their weight, my mask, their mask, etc. And, when giving rescue breaths the head needs to be tilted back for open airway, otherwise rescue breath is pointless (it is futile anyways IMO) Would appreciate your thoughts and feedback. Thanks for efforts any sharing your knowledge 👍

Hi Elmo! You can also start with your own weight belt, mask etc. This is just style. I prefer to start with them as I can still swim. During my EC Clamp I do open the airway, it is a different technique (Google the benefits). But any technique you use that open the airways will be great for this skill! :)

Is there any variation on this depending on if you're waiting to be picked up by boat or heading to the shore?
