Paddling the Historic Mattawa River. Spectacular Fall Colors, Waterfalls and Whitewater

Joe and I take a trip down the historic Mattawa River. For centuries the river was used by First Nations before becoming and major corridor for transport during the fur trade years.
We discover many historic sites along the way and mix in some whitewater in beautifully rugged terrain.

Thanks. Me too. Soon I hope!
I love your canoe trips. The beautiful scenery and peaceful water sounds. Quiet music. All the waterfalls were great. The larger one where the water was white with the huge trees and beautiful fall colors orange, red, green and brown; that was a postcard image. Thanks for always giving us as much info about the place and history as you can. Love collabs with you and Joe. Hi Joe, waiting for your next video. Y'all stay safe 💕

Thank you so much. Much appreciated
Nice trip Tosh. One of those "nearby" rivers that I just never seem to make time for, so good to get a taste of what to expect one day. Nice to see you out fly fishing. Your old friend Norman (IIRC) would have been pleased!

Thanks Ron, I think about Norman every time I pick up a fly rod.
Dry side up 👍 Those waterfalls were awesome. Looked like a great trip. You definitely have to try the chicken of the Woods next time you find some. So good 👍🏻 Hope to see more flyfishing perhaps from you this year. Great video

Definitely will have to try it! And yes, I'll be using fly rod for sure.
Awesome trip. Fantastic weather and friends. Thanks for sharing. One that's on the list for sure as I want to finish the Ottawa R to Georgian Bay connection one day! Cheers!

This took place in my backyard. We paddle and camp on the Mattawa 2 or 3 times per year

It's a beautiful place. You're fortunate to have it so close.
I was wondering when someone would cover the Mattawa, since the French is so popular...
Will buy wild boar bacon from a local organic grocery store here in Toronto. It might be sourced from the same place you were talking about. It is smokey and delicious!

Thanks for sharing. A very relaxing Friday evening video to watch. Beautiful fall colors and amazing scenery. Gotta love Cooper, he's so chill in the canoe, even in those swifts and rapids.

Yes we did. There had been quite a bit of rain the week prior. Made for a fun run down river.
So where did Joe's dog go, seen early in the video?

That was a flashback to another trip. He didn't bring his dog on the Mattawa.
