    Although I have had no symptoms, my iwatch kept indicating low heart rate so cardiologists ordered 2 weeks on heart monitor which identified significant irregularities so I’m scheduled to get a pacemaker Friday. Your video was helpful. Thanks

    Very informative. Thank you Dr Bolad. 70 years old with BP 132/79 and heart rate of 72. Holter monitor shows both junctional rhythm and normal SA node pulse in a 24 hour period. EKG a year ago showed a normal P wave but a year later it was not there. I can exercise normally, play golf, bike and mow the lawn (walking) with no ill effects. Echo-cardiogram is normal with a very slight enlargement of the left atrium. Can a person live normally without treatment if they are asymptomatic or is a pacemaker necessary? Thanks so much for your time.

    Thank you. Yes it is possible, as long as the heart rate and blood pressure are maintained, then a pacemaker is not indicated. Any medications that slows conduction, for example beta blockers, if they are being taken, will need to be discontinued.

    Hey Doc. I once had a Heart Rate of 26 Beats per minute. ( I could or should I say, I was able to hold my Breath under water for 8-10 minutes at one time.) NO PROBLEM! Since that time I had a Pacemaker and Inlarged Heart with very little Muscle to it. ( Due to Many Heart Attacks and ONE MASSIVE One.) I got a new heart through Transplantation and I had to have a PERMANENT Pacemaker like you were talking about after the Tx cause my NEW Heart was racing and they couldn't get it down. it was POUNDING OUT OF MY Chest and sometimes so fast I hardly felt it. When it did beat hard MY Hospital bed was rocking! Now I got those COVID 19 Shots and They have cause my heart to do really unfortionate activitys and causing me to nearly die. it's been 30 years and some since ALL this crap went down. I could tell ya ALOT More but wondering if this new pacemaker would be right for me? How do they get these LIL Pacemakers inplanted into the heart OUT?? Thanks Subscribed Doctor.

    Thank you for the detailed information. Are you inquiring about the leadless pacemakers? If so, these are implanted in certain situations and they are not the first device option for pacemaker implantation.

    I have a slow heart rate and have had a pacemaker for 2 years now. The doctor set my heart rate at 50-130. Can we exercise and play football? And is there a chance that the lead wire will come off or not? And when we exercise beyond the prescribed pulse at 130, will it have any effect on the machine or ourselves? thank you.

  • @DoctorBoladCardiology

    @DoctorBoladCardiology

    Жыл бұрын

    The pacemaker pulse generation can go up to 130/min . However your own intrinsic heart rate might be able to go higher, depending on the underlying heart conduction abnormality you have. The response to exercise depends on the type of pacemaker you had whether it is a single lead or a dual chamber pacemaker. It is unlikely that the leads will come off easily after 2 years, but please check with your doctor who implanted the pacemaker.

    Thank you for sharing this video. I want to ask, will a simple at home pulse oximeter provide a accurate heart rate after receiving a pacemaker? Will it be possible it can still show a heart rate under 60bpm? Thank you Dr.

  • @DoctorBoladCardiology

    @DoctorBoladCardiology

    Жыл бұрын

    Generally yes, if the heart rate is regular. The most accurate heart rate will be obtained directly by interrogating the pacemaker; your doctor will be able to do this.

    This depends on how often the pacemaker is being used for pacing. Generally your pacemaker should be checked every 6 months if it is functioning normally, and more frequently if there is an issue. Your doctor should be able to tell you during the check of how much battery is remaining. Leads are generally not changed unless they are not functioning well. The pacemaker unit is changed. Please check with your doctor regarding follow up.

    Hey Doc, I'm a 66 yr old male life long athlete and I continue to workout 60-90 minutes per day. I have been diagnosed with Brady and 3rd stage AV. My HR routinely drops into the low 30s during sleep. I am completely asymptomatic. My EP Cardiologist has indicated a dual chamber pace maker is my future and probably sooner rather than later. After doing much research as well as listening to your video, I would much prefer to go with a leadless PM vise the traditional leaded type device. My concerns are recovery time and future restrictions on my exercise routines which include swimming, cycling and weight training. My cardiologist is only using the traditional style device at this point. Do you know anyone on the east coast who is using the dual chamber headless system. Thanks you in advance..

    The traditional pacemaker would be more physiological. Leadless pacemakers are implanted at this time, when there is difficulty or contraindication to use the standard pacemaker.

  • @DoctorBoladCardiology

    Thank you Mr. Chase The pacemaker will need to be interrogated and that would show the amount of battery left. You should be checked by the hospital where you had the device implanted at least once a year, and that will keep track of the amount of battery left. Some pacemakers can be monitored remotely rather than going to the hospital for a check. Sincerely Dr. Bolad
