He's typically aggressive when he speeds up. Pinky, the smitten stalker. She's ahead of you! Inky, Blinky's highly unpredictable sidekick. He's shatter-brained and can also sometimes chase Pacman aggressively like Blinky. Clyde, the slow a minded one. He mostly distracts himself! Sue, the purple ghost who follows Pacman just like Blinky. Beware of this playful ghost! Funky, the atlethic bouncing ghost. Small, energic and deadly. Spunky, Funkys cousin. It's really impossible to jump her!

This is my all time favorite Pac Man. I like the championship version as well, but still this is my favorite of all of them.

Once Blinky is angry he will begin to chase you and become faster

One can only wonder why in the world Namco didn't port Pac-Mania to the TurboGrafx-16 as it would have been the best port out there in the early 90s.

It isn't even an objectively awful port, its the only port which allows you to see the most out of any version outside the Acorn Archimedes computer, just about has every music stinger and track in addition to 2 new tracks and the ability to have a pac booster enabled in any way​@@ligiaamaral768

This game is absolutely amazing I first witnessed this game on namco museum megamix for the Nintendo Wii And then from that moment on this instantly became one of my favorite Pac-Man sequels I also love how you can jump over the ghosts but later on in the game itself they introduce ghosts that can also jump so in a way that sort of defeats the purpose of giving Pac-Man the ability to jump over the ghosts regardless of that though this game is still absolutely a blast to play My favorite stages in this game are Pac-Mans Park because of that amazing pice of music that would later be used in ghostly adventures and block town i love the music used in that level as well its so charming to listen to and I absolutely love it overall this game is very fun and I recommend any Pac-Man fan to try it out its definitely a fun and very colorful game I also love that as you get closer to clearing a level Blinkys facial expression goes from normal to angry and yet none of the other ghosts go through this sudden change in facial expressions it appears that only Blinky does but nevertheless it is quite interesting to notice such a detail like that

Yes, like what the heck?! I noticed that a long time ago.

There have been so many times whenever I play this game that I forget I have the ability to jump.

I remember seeing this in a magazine in the late 90s and thinking it was a game from just a couple of years ago that I had somehow missed.

This was one I only got to play a couple times at a restaurant when I was pretty young. I remember watching my cousin play it and then playing it myself later, but the restaurant only had room for about 4 arcade cabinets and changed them pretty frequently.

I think i first seen it at a Pizza Hut on vacation somewhere forever ago. I don't think I seen it again until I first found Funspot in NH

Jumping is interesting, but the jumping ghosts can be easily fooled.

Namco shoud launch this game for the new generation,but with some enhancements, like to have another things for Pac-Man eats like fruits,drinks,foods,etc,instead only yellow dots. I know there are these things in the center of the maze,but would be more fun like that. Also giving the space to the players comunity to make their own mazes. Would be great!

Funny, I found this to be significantly easier than the original Pacman. The ability to jump over the ghosts changes everything.

The description states it’s an update with next to no gameplay updates but the jump is a game changer so don’t know what your on about there, but do you have the MAME rom for this? It’s one of my absolute favourite arcade games ever and my favourite Pac Man game. I want the rom for my Raspberry Pi/Retropie console.

Pac-Mania is kind of emblematic of the "graphics over gameplay" approach that crept into gaming in the late 80's. It represents the daydream of "what if Pac-Man were in THREE DIMENSIONS? Wouldn't that be soooo cool?" And at the time, yes! Because the graphics were still rapidly evolving, asking that kind of question was cool, and it still is, just going by the comments here. (There were definitely a few freeware games that took the same question and answered it in terms of a first-person maze game, as well) But it's also clunky to have the camera in so close when matched with the classic maze gameplay, and the extra ghosts and jumping kind of indicate that the design was hacked out after the graphics to try to make it work by heaping more stuff on. Today it'd be easy to take a different compromise by using a zooming camera, which wasn't really an option then.

I played PAC-MANIA a lot on my Amiga 500. I believe, i still have it. Also, i have the Arcade version of this game on my PlayStation 2 in a compilation called NAMCO MUSEUM. Great classic game 😺👍!

Played the emulated version more then the arcade one but the little yellow pill popper ghostbuster is pure fun nevermind the port 🤓

Probably you didn't reach the levels when there are like 3 of green and gray ghosts

Looks washed out in MAME for some reason (same on my PC), but better in Museum+ (except there it has forced filtering).

I disagree: The original Pacman has a different gameplay, because, you were able to see the whole maze and therefore could plan your moves in advance! The ability to jump is a bandaid to accomidate for this flaw. Also, Pacmania has inputlag, which the Amiga conversion does not to this extent.

I think the industry was going through a proto-3D phase where isometric was hip and cool; I suspect the jump mechanic came from that ethos

Wow... the arcade music is actually pretty bad compared to the A500 version. That doesn't happen often! I really enjoyed playing this back in the day and liked it more than regular PacMan, but never could quite get jumping to work to my advantage. I just sucked at it. 8)
