    Truly mind blowing. To see and hear the emotion he put into that piece was pure genius. How lucky we are to be able to watch the Master at our fingertips. What a privilege. Peace, Teddy

    Thanks. It's a treat to hear this performance. Also, to see the man himself--fingerings, bowings, frowns and all!

    Thank you so much for posting this beautiful piece! All my life, Pablo Casals has been my hero, ever since I started playing cello at 15. I know this piece inside out but have never seen him play. I'm struck by his rock likie stillness and seeming lack of emotion, when the music is so full of passion. Just fabulous. What a treat!

    Thank you for this posting. Pau Casals has been an inspiration for my 50 years of playing the solo Bach Suites (on viola). What a musician! What a cellist! The "voice" of angels couldn't be any sweeter or speak of deeper secrets... I believe he was the first to treat these pieces as concert pieces, rather than etudes!

    That's the beauty of interpretation, and one of my favorite things about "classical" music. You can listen to the same piece of music performed in so many different ways, it's endless, it's beautiful. Personally I love Casals' style. Anything he played, he played fluid and beautifully. And his bow technique was freakishly smooth.

    You must know that all of this was basically improvisation? Casals was the one who took the suites out of the etude bin and put them into the standard repertoire! He was the first to ever do that, which is why he is so amazing.

    Emocionante,con ese color desnudo de la piedra, el sonido de la madera y las cuerdas, esa mano izquierda de Pau Casals tan cercana a su cara. Y la musica de J.S.Bach, nunca a vuelto a ser-sonar asi. Gracias, maestros.

    The Master is and would be unconcerned about his name ... he is and was a teacher and language and a dialect is insignificant to his message - Music was just but a tool in the sense it expresses the essential one of Peace and Humanity Above All is Peace

    Pau Casals i Defilló (Catalan: [ˈpaw kəˈzaɫz i dəfiˈʎo]; December 29, 1876 - October 22, 1973), known during his professional career as Pablo Casals,[1][2][3] was a Catalan cellist and conductor.←From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    As a bassist, I would have taken the Sarabande slower. On a bass, you can get that deep, mournful sound out of it a little better by slowing it down. But Casals takes everything else a little faster than I would, but it still fits very well.

    Can you perhaps comment on the fact that there are virtually no youtube videos of dancing on Bach's suites? (I think I've seen one or two amateur videos of amateur performances, & that's it.) And, let me also say Hello.

    @BLUELUNA10 by the way: Blueluna is technically incorrect you must named "Blue Moon" or "Luna Azul" but not "Blueluna"

  • @DevonMooreMusic

    Aren't they the original unearthings of these back shelve Bach garage sale bargain bin pieces? If my understanding is correct, he brought the Bach Cello suites and the solo cello itself, from obscurity to the most listened to string (let alone cello) music of all time.

  • @BLUELUNA10

    Pablo was his Spanish name, Pau was his Catalan name. He preffered Pau, but technically both are correct.

  • @Astrogalum

  • @Shiflis2
    @Shiflis213 жыл бұрын

    @BLUELUNA10 What means "technically correct"?! Casals's mother names Pau, in catalonian language means Peace, ask her if it is technically correct renamed him Pablo.

    @MCcookiebreath Ah vaya; ahora entiendo. No trato de ser pretencioso sino irónico, sarcástico. Tal vez no he sido suficientemente claro. Buena noche.

  • @Shiflis2
    @Shiflis213 жыл бұрын

    @MCcookiebreath En realidad lo pretencioso es tratar de corregir el nombre de Pau Casals, que es lo que intenta "Blueluna". Bien si ella corrige o traduce el nombre Pau en lo que a su parecer es "técnicamente correcto", yo, iróniocamente, "corrijo" el de ella con ese mismo criterio.

    totselsnicksocupats, this is a good example of "intollerance" what so many people despise so much, but on the other hand apply every day without thinking. So 2 remarks 1) i put this video on KZread for its music and not for political reasons 2) Mr Casals approved his recordings to be published with the name Pablo Casals, so i guess it's up to him to decide and not to you. My advice: please enjoy the music and let it go to your heart and try to feel peace inside you!

Por otra parte, entender los sarcasmos requiere de otro tanto de inteligencia ¿Pero qué podemos esperar en youtube? Que tengas un bonito día hoy y siempre.

    It's true 2teaa22. His name was Pau. Whatever he decided regarding his recordings, it's up to him not to you to decide whether his name was Pau or Pablo. I think there's your lack of understanding of his Life behind calling intolerance a complain for you naming him in a wrong way.

    schwarzkavalier before the civil war any people was killed by anarchist, comunist and independentist as by fascist. After the Spain civil war thousands people (more than 40.000)in all the regions of Spain were killed by Franco with the important help and weapons of Portugueese,Italian and German nazis.

    samileku in the first I am catalan, and I live in the village that born Pau Casals. He didn't live in a fascist country, true. But more and more people included Pau Casals left spain because Franco kill de catalan people. Twotea22, isn't intollerance but say Pablo Casals is not respect Pau Casals. He was a man joined to the catanalism.
