If a program is on Provisional probation would it refer to your provision explanation or the probation one?

So if a developing program doesn't become accredited until after you graduate... let's say a year or two down the road, can you still sit for the PANCE or do they have to become accredited before you graduate?

Hey :) Great question! So generally, PA programs can accept students but they can't have the students start the program until the program is granted provisional accreditation, from my knowledge!

Is it easier to get into a “provisionally accredited” program?

yes and no. Some "provisionally accredited" programs want higher than average numbers so they have a strong 1st and 2nd class to begin their program!

Hi James, I was just wondering if you took A&P together as one class or you took them separate,,, because I heard that some PA schools requiring A&P to be taken separate? Thank You.

Rana soliman I would look into each program and email them if there is any ambiguity. I took my anatomy and physiology courses separately but I know many who took A&P 1&2 as joint courses!

Hey James, I have a question? I'm so stuck between wanting to become either and MD or PA. I go to a community college right now studying radiography, I was thinking about becoming a radiologist after earning my associates and moving on to a four year school to get my bachelors and apply for medical school. I was told that I should go PA because medical schools don't like people who went to a community college. I do really like what PA's do, but I also don't want to completely give up on potentially becoming a radiologist or possibly even a surgeon. I need your advice! what do you think I should do? Thanks!

Hey Ronnie/Rana! That is absolutely false about medical schools not liking community college students. I have friends who started at community college, went to UCSD with me and have went on to prestigious medical schools (UCSF being one). I think you should definitely pursue the medical school route especially if you have hopes of potentially being a surgeon. PAs in surgery will never do full OR operations on their own and will most likely always be first assist. I don't think you should choose PA over MD just because of some inaccurate information you received. Stay positive and kick ass in your classes and prove them wrong! :)

Hey James, I'm going to Elizabethtown college to become a PA, I'm hoping to finish my undergraduate in 3 to 3 and 1/2 years then get into University of Penn. My question is, is graduating early a realistic goal, and if it is would it be a wise idea too graduate early?

Hey Chris! I think if you finish all your pre-reqs within your 3-3.5 years, it's a great idea to graduate early. You can spend that time getting more patient care hours and working on other aspects of your application. I had the opportunity to graduate early but decided to stay all 4 years and in reality I just paid more for the experience of still being in school. You save money by graduating early but you give up some college experience, that's how I would weigh it out. I'm not sure if UPenn has a PA program! I know Penn State does but I'm not sure if UPenn does, let me know if they do have a program. Best of luck and stay positive!

Thanks man! Ok I will check into that. My advisor told me that Etown has a program that if you maintain a 3.5 you are guaranteed to get into Penn State after your undergraduate. Do you think PSU has a good program?

that's awesome! Penn state seems like a great program! Look into their PANCE passing percentages! Keep up your grades and that'll be a great path to take :)
