Originally i had bought the egr and he said take it back they seldom go bad. So i took it back. And bought the ones i mentioned. Hopefully i wont get that light back Good video short and to the point. Cheers

I have the P0402 code and trying to fix it but found this video as all mechanics suggested replacing the modulator without even checking the vsv! My question is : would a faulty vsv test read kilo ohms resistance ?

@@medboukhicha6484 I would go ahed and replace the vsv. It will give you peace of mind and more than likely once you do it and clear the code that will take care of the problem. Dont forget to take the car for a run so that the ecm relearn the components replaced. That is what the mechanic said. Good luck!

Great video, you did a really good job .... but you went to the wrecking yard for a VSV :o holy smoke man, I thought I was cheap, I mean don't get me wrong, I go to the wrecking yard all the time but not for used VSV. It's just not worth it, how long will a used VSV last, who knows. I got for fuel injectors, entire cylinder heads, engine blocks etc, but a cheap part like a VSV, just get new and keep the receipt, if the new one goes bad just take your receipt in and get another one IJS Also, next time take a 9V batter with your to the wrecking yard next time and you can test the valve in the yard before you buy it. You don't need 12v to get a VSV to actuate.

97 Toyota Camry 3.0L V6 1MZ, 168,000 miles, Code P0402 two weeks ago. I tested the VSV that connected to the EGR valve to be good following your method with a 9V battery. I replaced this VSV any way (from Advance auto parts, new). I deleted codes with code scanner afterwards. But the code P0402 showed up again after 2 miles driving. I then went ahead and replaced the EGR valve (from eBay new) and deleted the code. The code P0402 came back again. Any other suggestions?

I found a leaking 3-way vacuum which also connects to the EGR valve, sort of. It’s one of them in a three vacuum switch bank under the engine dust cover. Tested with a nose suction bulb and a 9 volts battery. After replacement of that vacuum switch, the code P0402 is gone.
