P0308 Explained - Cylinder 8 Misfire (Simple Fix)

The FIXD wireless OBD2 scanner and free app for iPhone and Android translates your check engine light into plain English so you can rest easy. In this video, we explain what OBD2 code P0308 means and possible causes.
P0308 means cylinder number 8 is experiencing misfires.
A misfire occurs when an insufficient amount of fuel is burning in a cylinder. The efficient burning of fuel is essential to engine operation as the combustion of fuel is what provides the energy to power the engine. A misfire from one or more cylinders can be caused by many reasons from a faulty ignition system, fuel system, or internal engine failure.
When P0308 occurs, it should be fixed immediately as long term driving with engine misfires could cause consequential damage to your engine. Many times, P0308 occurs when there are worn-out spark plugs, spark plug wires, or a faulty ignition coil.

WORTH THE COMMENT READ FOR SURE! Not mentioned in the video but Labor costs are different for every make and model. Also parts are different as well. Labor is different due to accessibility. For example, let's use P0308 in this video or any other misfire code for that matter. Some cars the ignition coil is exposed and bang bang boom you can get to it less cost on labor. Other cars you need to remove the whole intake manifold and disconnect various sensors, etc, and often times need special tools just to get to the ignition coil. Which means, you guessed it more time and Labor costs. Don't believe that the costs for labor in this video will be the same for your vehicle. Also parts for a BMW, Mercedes, AUDI, and othee high class makes are almost always more money that for generic makes like Honda and Toyota. BOTTOM LINE: The higher end or class the vehicle, typically the higher end money you need to buy parts. The harder less accesible parts on a vehicle, the more time and labor its going to cost.

This dude explained it like you're intelligent but unfamiliar with the subject. Super dug his flow and cadence. Great video and subscribed. After watching this video I wonder if I am the problem having the hood open while power washing close by. I'm thinking now water got in cylinder 8. It would explain a lot. I'm off to watch more as I like what I see here. ✌🏻. Thanks for the help

Once in awhile I get this error on my 18 Silverado z71 v8 my check engine starts blinking, oil pressure goes very high traction control light comes on and it runs very rough. But after about 20 min it goes back to normal light stops blinking but it stays on for a few hours then turns off and everything is fine. I bought this truck new in 18 and it’s done thing 5 times now. No one can fix it cause by the time I get it to a shop all the symptoms are gone. Sure they can bring the code up but at that point it’s worthless.
