I had the harpsichord decorated not by the maker, but by a woman in Germany. The wonderful stand was made also in Germany by a great carpenter.

Like to know if sound board was painted before stringing or at later date.Also who published Rogers compositions. What stops are part of this harpsichord?
The harpsichord is my new favourite instrument after this.
3:09 he adjusts his glasses... only pointing it out because anyone who has even the split second required for that while playing la marche des scythes, is clearly very talented. lol.

This guy tore that harpsichord all to pieces. I thought the entire building was going to cave in. The best music I have ever heard. Thank you MASTER.

Pancrace Royer is quite underrated. We have here a very brillant score. I must confess that I do not know if it is an original, a transcription, or variations over an existing theme.

Totally original.
Wow. This is wonderful. I'm so happy to have chanced upon this. Thank you.
How rare! A hi-def video, great performance, great music and nicely shot harpsichord video. Oh joy!
I feel like you are the only interpret I've heard who both understood the intention of the composer and the mood of the piece. I don't know much about music, but somehow this feels like Royer wanted it to be played this way. There is a mix of mechanical elegance and suppleness that seems to suit the fashion of that time. A very clear instrument, excellent sound capture, and a cameraman who knows what to film. Perfect.

How do you figure this? About the interpretation ...
That Harpsichord is the equivalent analogue to a high quality modern concert grand. Those notes ring so clear.
@Ekvitarius
6 жыл бұрын
That’s because the strings are parallel to the grain of the wood in the soundboard which makes the sound very clear and direct. 18th century pianos were built the same way. Modern pianos have crossed strings with perpendicular soundboards in order to make all of the notes resonate richly in the middle of the instrument. Musical values, aesthetics and design philosophy in the past were quite different from our modern romanticism-informed attitude towards art in general.
LA marche des Scythes (pas "Le") - de Royer (Joseph Nicolas Pancrace). Superbe ! Magnifique ! Grandiose !

This is so badass man! Masterfully played, gorgeous instrument and superb quality video. KEEP IT UP!
Gracias Yago, has sido todo un descubrimiento para mi. ¡no puedo parar de ver tus vídeos!.
good!!!!
Thank you for this video. I am a beginner piano player, so I do not have much experience, but seeing your play is a truly empowering.
Great!
Very nice, quickly played, but also well articulated notes at the same time 👌 You really showed us how good this piece is by playing this way. Most musicians make it sound like a cloud of notes by playing too rushed, making individual notes much less distinguishable.
Great composition for the harpsichord. Wish this instrument was more common
What a brilliant interpretation. If perfection exists you're not far from it. The instrument has such a powerful tone ! By the way the 4:40+ and 5:30 "scenes" are so well played, great ! I'm totally enthusiastic, will buy your records and promote your work around me.
bravo!
Music to my ears
can't reply directly to Ian Brockman's comment regarding the spectacle adjustment at 3:09 . There is a false arm connected by levers to a foot operated pedal for the sole purpose of spectacle pushing. There is another pedal which operates the false arm to turn music sheets if you're using those, but here he's not using sheets, just spectacles.

+AdvocateVaping QuashMonopolisingRegulation I think you may need glasses, there are no foot pedals. Very late 18th century harpsichords had knee levels, but this instrument does not have them. And in 47 years of playing keyboard (Piano, Harpsichord, Organ), I have never come across a pedal to turn pages. Are you Vaping "Whacky Tobaccy?
@statingthe_obvious6309

Renshen1957 yes I do need glasses now after testing my spectacle pushing pedal which I've never needed before due to having perfect vision... damned thing poked me in the eye due to my lack of bespectaclment. now the pusher is stuck on enabled and tends to spectacle push of its own accord... nothing else for it, I'll have to wear spectacles solely for the purposes of not getting poked in the eye again by the pedal operated spectacle pushing mechanism on my 18th century keyboard (harpsichord not piano, synth, organ, accordion or harmonium).
2:03 sounds so surreal to me
That is quite the machine
Wowowowow

i love the sheet music...
