Love listening to P.J. Proby , my all time favourite singer. True Legend. I remember him appearing on "Opportunity Knocks" as the Masked singer. You couldn't fail to recognize the voice.

Ive been a fan since 'Somewhere' came out PJ like a great wine just got vocally richer and richer...hes the best

The lower register in PJ's voice is Phenomenal .

Best ballad singer EVER .Glad I saw him at a live concert once . My personal favourite song of his is, "Angelica "

I had the shirt and the pony tail to match him when he started and at 74 years still a fan

For me, this is the definitive version, although I also love Elvis's and Timi Yuro's. If only we had studio version of it.

PJ put out a good version, but Elvis and Timmie Yuro put out briiliant versions.

I wonder if his version was released as Elvis’s as his voice was the closest ?

I'm a vocalist and can sing in low keys. He's not entirely comfortable with this key, which is why he moves around and rolls with some noted. The hand up at his ear is a tell. The key is too low, and I now suspect it's his backing Musicians who are at fault . Keep your Crown PJ.

You may well be a vocalist however, when it comes to P.J. Proby's voice and performance you haven't a clue! I would suggest that at the very least you learn more about his youth (losing partial hearing in his right ear) and training with the renowned vocal coach, Lillian Goodman.

Sorry I don't like his singing 😮
