You just need to select, not to arrange.( read the question) You are selecting 2A and 2I, now you can select in any order. AAII = AIAI = AIIA and so on..

Sir, at 4:15:45 ... In gate 2024 question ... Can we write 4! ÷ 2! =12 ans Explanation: I was assuming two twins as 1 ( because no need of permuting of those two ) and assuming E1 and E2 are empty spaces .... So arranging 5 items in 5 circular positions will be 4!.. ( E1 and E2 as 4th and 5th item ) as E1 and E2 are same I will divide it by 2! Finally, 4!/2! = 12 Answer Sir, Is this right way of solving..

@@PrepFusion_GATE 1st item - twins 1 ( both ) 2nd item - twins 2 ( both) 3rd item - twins 3 ( both ) I am considering 2 twins as 1 item as there is no need of permuting because they were indistinguishable twins 4th item - empty 1 5th item - empty 2 I am assuming 2 remaining spaces filled by empty 1 and empty 2.. So, the no of circular positions will also be reduced to 5 as I was considering 2 twins as 1 item... In that way, 5 item to be placed in 5 places... which is 4! Empty 1 and empty 2 are same ... Divide by 2! Result 4!/2! = 12
