You're so right. The Merlin had the perfect sound pitch. I like to say a mechanical symphony, the P-51's howl adds to it.

Amazing how a plane, designed and made almost 80 years ago is still sleek, sexy and sounds so good. Not to mention the history behind it. Amazing.

When I hear those gun ports whistle in sends shivers down my spine. Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing.

It's the radiator intake and exhaust aft that makes that howl. Brilliant

Wow, Georg Raab fliegt eine P-51! Ist mir neu, und das freut mich für ihn... ich durfte vor ein paar Jahren mit seiner gelben T-6 auf der Hahnweide mitfliegen, ein sehr sympathischer Mensch, immer relaxed und humorvoll. Schöne Vorstellung mit einem tollen Low-Pass am Ende, dass dies im überkontrollierten Germany noch erlaubt ist...

That P51 Mustang was very instrumental in destroying the German Luftwaffe in WWII !!!

What a stunning WW II fighter. Love all USAAF aircraft, and that P 51 D is in the same paint scheme as "Big Beautiful Doll"...! 🪖🐎

Of all of the planes that are out there today, The P-51D is still my all time favorite. Maybe because it is almost as old as I am. Might Could Be as the old timers used to say. Thanks to Paddy for keeping it alive and whistling.

Wieder tolle Aufnahmen!👍 Ich hätte da mal eine Frage 🤔 Woher kommt das Pfeifen der P-51 denn nun??? Sind es die Läufe der MG's oder ist es die Hutze???😅 Es wurde beides schon behauptet.

Ziemlich sicher die Gunports. Allerdings hat das auch nicht jede Mustang. Nur diejenigen, die die beiden Flächeninneren Gunports habfn, welche etwas vertieft in der Fläche sitzen. Bei höherem Anstellwinkel, beispielsweise beim abfangen aus einem Looping oder einer engen Kurve kommt es dann zu diesem Ton. Ich weiß es wird viel behauptet, allerdings konnte ich noch keine einzige Mustang finden, die dieses Geräusch ohne diese zwei Gunports macht.
