    10:19 yeah I didn't use enough either even though I shoved a great big nut into the nose as you did. I had to drill out the back of the prop spinner and jammed a small piece of lead in and it's JUST enough to keep the thing on 3 wheels. Very nice build you have there.

    These sponges are added to a lot of aftermarket stuff by eduard and others. I have a lot of them now, it's good for chipping, or to mask of some areas like wheel wells, engines, air intakes or cockpit. Hope this helps

  • @thethirdman225

    John Burdis The P-39 was very useful to the VVS. Because they were an attachment to the Red Army, the VVS spent a lot of time doing ground attack and strafing runs where the nose-mounted 37mm cannon and four .50 cals came in very handy. The P-39 was not without its vices but it definitely fought well on the eastern front.

    Don’t forget that many of the Russian aces flew the P-39. Down low where the lack of a proper supercharger, and stripped of some of it’s extra equipment the P-39 was a hot ship.

    @@ScaleHangar182 Советую научиться стачивать заднией кромки крыльев. Крылья выглядят как толстые бревна. I advise you to learn how to grind the rear edges of the wings. The wings are like flat boards in this model without minimal modification.

    P-400 is the export version, to Britain. They didn't want it so the U.S. took them back, sent most to Russia.

    One thing that always puzzled me is most piston engined aircraft have the engine forward of the cockpit and are tail-draggers however the P-39 has the engine behind the cockpit but has a tricycle undercarriage!! Whats going on there?

  • @timorvet1

    @timorvet1

    5 жыл бұрын

    The P-39 was designed to provide a platform for the 37 mm T 9 cannon. This meant the weapon had to be rigidly mounted and fire parallel to and close to the centerline of the new fighter. It would have been impossible to mount the weapon in the fuselage, firing through the cylinder banks of the Vee-configured engine and the propeller hub, as could be done with smaller 20mm cannon. Weight, balance and visibility considerations meant that the cockpit could not be placed farther back in the fuselage, behind the engine and cannon. The solution adopted was to mount the cannon in the forward fuselage and the engine in the center fuselage, directly behind the pilot's seat. As an aside I liken it to the gun bay of the P-38 Lighting. And lastly the P-39 was the first modern fighter in the USAAF to be fitted with a tricycle undercarriage.

    Hey nice P-39! I like your dusty weathering it looks the part. I subbed the other day and am trying to engage with other KZreadrs that have similar channels and interests. If you have some time pop on over and check my channel out. Thanks and keep up the great work sir!😀👊

  • @jecammer

    I have just started watching your videos and I have learned some good tricks. However this is not one of your better builds. I am sorry to say this, the model looks like a beginner model maker trying to copy what they see a master do. The white in the panel lines is especially unrealistic and distracting. I have a lot to learn about weathering my models, so I keep a picture of the real thing in front of me as I paint. Your other builds are night and day better then this. I am not good at this kind of thing and I am very sorry if I said this wrong, and hurt your feelings, this was not my intention.
