Randy Rhoads is my all-time favorite guitarist. He founded Quiet Riot (years before they became famous in the 80s) and was sadly lost in a plane crash just as his career was ascending. "Blizzard of Ozz" and "Diary of a Madman" are two classic albums of 80s Rock and his guitar writing with classical style were brilliant and ahead of their time. See Ozzy's 30th Anniversary from 2011 of "Blizzard of Ozz" to better understand the creation and Randy's major influence on Ozzy and 80s Rock.

BTW his mom and brother had a classical music school in Santa Monica at one time Randy first played classical guitar he wrote a song for his mom called DEE where he plays a classical guitar piece for her

And EVH basically said Randy was a copycat of himself. With all due respect to Eddie, he couldn’t have been more wrong. Randy was so technically sound and combined that with being able to totally shred, and that scared other guitarists. Randy Rhoads is and will always be my favorite guitarist (maybe musician, period). He packed so much talent in that little 5’7” 105 lb. frame!

I love seeing people 40 years later asking who is that guitarist? He was about to become internationally famous as the Lead Guitar player for Quiet Riot. If you will also note the bass player was a founding member of Quiet Riot. You young people today don’t get it. Back then this was a mammoth selling album with videos and a world tour. Ozzy had to hire the best musicians. The whole story about the crash has never made sense and was covered up. Randy was going to become an international super star.

The song is so great I'm really glad that you played it. He's talking about Allister Crowley (the self-styled most wicked man in the world)! He was into the whole astrology and parallel universe thing, don't know if this guy was crazy but he sure was interesting!

It’s funny, we all know Ozzy from his reality show but he had a whole career before that. I’ve never really watched an Ozzy video, so this was a first. I’m like, is Ozzy talking about Aleister Crowley?? Great reaction!!! Sorry we missed you in our live. We really appreciate that you came through. 😊

Randy Rhoads made so much noise with Quiet Riot that DLR and Eddie Van Halen would come to the shows to see Randy play. Ed knew he had to stay on top of his game. That whole westcoast LA rock/metal scene was very competitive against amongst guitarists during that ERA. Rip to RR and EVH 💔
