@@matthewdrake4385 What I remember is that Osbourne's first two albums were wildly successful and they had a very consistent sound built around Rhoads' playing. It was very deliberate and up front, and then people like Adrian Vandenberg and Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai (the last two with Alcatrazz) came out of the woodwork with a similar sound very closely after. It is a real shame that Rhoads died so young. Makes you wonder what he would have done. Imagine that guy and Cliff Burton playing together.

Aza, your pretty spot on. Randy was classically trained which put him apart from just about everyone else. I could see how Randy could influence someone like a Steve Vai or Joe Satriani. Malmsteen I totally can't stand. Playing to see how fast you can play doesn't work to my ears. Having some emotion, feeling or flow are what most players have and show that appeal to me. I totally agree about what could have been with Randy, Hendrix, SRV and players like that.

lol @ Randy being up there with VH and Jimi.. too fuggen funny, humans, you mean to say VH is almost upthere with Jimi and Jimi is almost up there with Randy? pretty sure that's how it goes, Ed couldn't make it as a boil on Randys arse no two ways about it, Randy taught classical music at the highest level, give that a thought for a minute, and Randy did more than Ed on the 3-4 albums Randy did get to work on, Ed what 12-15 albums? still didn't accomplish instrumentally what Randy did.. not even close let me put it this way, Randy was SRV 5.0. he had the INTENSITY over SRV, the TONE over SRV, the COMPLEXITY over SV and even possesed SRVs most valuable asset, STAMINA, RANDY AN SHRED WITH AS MUCH INTENSITY AS SRV ONLY LONGER, using longer reaches with faster and more complicated licks... this song is a testament to Randy's intensity and stamina, Ed does have a fifth of the stamina as Randy, nor SRV for that matter, fact is there is only one player I know of that ever hit the strings hard as randy and that is SRV, Ed? LOFL.. and I can promise you Randy knew far more about music than Ed or SRV ever dreamed of, Jimi as well..

As for not showing much of Randy’s solo - that’s something that was common on music videos so guitarists couldn’t watch it to learn how to play it note-for-note (trying to protect copyright). Watch nearly any vid with a great solo (Living Colout’s Cult Of Personality etc) and they cut from the guitarist a lot. Love the reaction from all three of you guys. Very cool.

Back then bands didn't like showing their guitarists iconic licks. I guess they were thinking "if you like it that much, go buy my record". Kind of like today, some famous guitarists closely guard which effects pedals they use and what sequence they connect them. They don't want their iconic sound to be copied.

Randy was a true teacher. If you notice he is always thrusting his guitar work out in the open for everyone could see what he was doing on the fret board. In contrast, his nemesis at the time (not that Randy even noticed) Eddie Van Halen would very often turn or otherwise conceal what he was doing. Randy however, having grown up in his mother’s music school, was happy to show everyone what he was playing. I think that’s why his style is to really put his guitar front and center. Almost like he is teaching a guitar class and is saying, “Hey, check this shit out!”

If you guys are still reading comments... organs often have two or more keyboards (called "manuals"), as well as pedal keys, with different sounds. In some bands they'll also have keyboards for synth, piano, etc., sometimes stacked, sometimes separate.

Polka dot guitar; Randy was known for wearing little polka dot bow ties in his previous band: Quiet Riot. The theme continued with that custom built Flying V. Hey, it was a 70' thing or a disco thing....cut him some slack! He was an original! And the inlays on the guitar neck....are little bow ties too! Custom order Marshall cabinets and heads, Altec Lansing speakers (I can't think of anyone else that used 'em) - Randy had his own tone, look, and musical style. Everyone that knew him said he was the kindest person on earth. R.I.P. Randy Rhoads.

Crowley was the son of a preacher. His father died when he was 6, and was angry at God for taking the one man he looked up to away from him. In turn, he decided to do the most vile and wicked things to lash out against God. The irony of it all is that he asked God for forgiveness on his deathbed.

I have never heard that his famous last words were "I am perplexed". Crowley wasn't even a Satanist, a lot of his early work was all about Angels. But he didn't believe they existed outside of the human mind like a lot of Occultist. He than started Thelma to remove Judeo Christian concepts. This song is actually dissing him. It did go around the founder of Church of Satan, Anton LaVey begged for forgivness. But that has since been debunked as Christian propaganda by his family

It'ts not like Hollywood where they say goodbye to loved ones and go. The body slowly shuts down Crowley was out of it for a couple days before he went Frieda Harris told me that Crowley died unhappily and fearfully. She held his twitching hands while the tears flowed down his cheeks. “I am perplexed,” he said. She was not with him at the very end. A Mr Rowe was there; he was in the room with a nurse, and according to him, Crowley’s last words were: “Sometimes I hate myself.”’ It's conflicting but "I am perplexed" the woman can be confirmed to of been taken care of him during this time
