    Does oxygen bound hemoglobin contribute to PaO2 in arterial blood?

    does hematocrit percentage determine the oxygen carrying capacity? or is it the hemoglobin itself?

    This is an indirect measurement of SaO2. So it tells you how much O2 is bound to Hb. The disadvantage of this is that this does not tell about all the O2 in the blood, as we just saw that O2 is in plasma as well. Also O2 bound to blood does not mean that O2 is being delivered to the tissue, as the O2 can be bound to Hb, as related by the O2 dissociation curve.
