Oxford MFC Scale comp 2023

The club’s Free Flight Scale comp saw 3 classes run, with a Flying Only and Kit Scale Precision CD’d by Bill Dennis and a new event Kit Scale Duration CD’d by Andy Blackburn
The Flying Only was an all in competition , so any form of power all in the same class. The models are judged on flying realism by the flight judge Bill Dennis with scores given for various stages of the flight - climb out, cruise, transition from power to glide and things like that. The competition was flown in 4 rounds with 15 secs of flight required to qualify as a scoring flight.

    Some BEAUTIFUL Models. I cannot even pick a favorite even though I love the rubber powered, the gas models were just as nice and who does not LOVE the smell of model airplane fuel.

    2:35 is perfectly scale for a Tiger Moth going about 175mph lol.

    Sadly not that was Ivans Se5a. I flew the the Miles Falcon and the Cessna 170..no video as I was flying them

    It didn't do too bad in the FF Nats but it's still a bit inconsistent ,the slightest small change to the rudder sets it off on a wayward course.

    @@squirrelnet28, I’m guessing that it has a scale rudder and scale dihedral so it’ll be touchy. Stick with it though, I’m sure you’ll get it dialled in with time. It’s definitely my favourite sort of aeroplane, a golden era biplane with tons of character and very rarely modelled.
