About the video:
In this thought-provoking discussion, two Oxford Christians delve into the complex world of nationalism, contrasting it with patriotism and exploring the ethics of nationalism. We examine the presence and implications of nationalism in both the West and the East, including specific insights on Hong Kong. The conversation also touches on what national essence entails and how our perceptions of nationalism evolve over time. This dialogue aims to shed light on why nationalism may be critiqued and what drives national pride versus more aggressive nationalist sentiments.

American here: be less scripted, you both have a great command of the English language, speak off the cuff, as it were, You could blow up if you speak authentically.

Will try to switch up the notes presentation, helps keep it flowing smoothely but can see why it looks better without notes

Nationalism is based on ethnicity and that your culture/people are superior. Nationalism is almost always jingoism, so it seems like a contradiction that a Christian could be a nationalist because we are all one in Christ and are always judged based on personal sins not your nation. Patriotism would be a more appropriate term to describe the love of our motherland and furthering its interest. Many people get these terms wrong.

@@MagicBrianTricks where do you think the word nation comes from? it comes from the latin "ratio" meaning "of shared birth". The nation is most certainly the ethnicity. One that has lost its meaning in our postmodern, multiracial view of the west
