Oxelo MF900 Unboxing & First Impressions
First up, my huge thanks to Oxelo for providing me these for review; Margaux, you've been brilliant! 😁
This is my first look and impressions of the MF900, Oxelo's 3 x 110mm tri-skate.
If you watch this channel, you'll know I'm a huge advocate of the MF500 free skate, which I posted an extensive review for back in May.
Given that the MF900 shares many things with the MF500, I imagine I will enjoy this skate, but if I'm completely honest, I've never been that interested in a 110mm wheel and wondered how this larger setup would suit my preferred skating style.
All I'll say right now is, these things really surprised me.

    That is the least they could do for you. In my opinion, you are the best Oxelo ambassador on KZread and the reason why I chose them (MF500 actually) as my first skates. Wish you to have a great ride in those MF900.

    I’ve had the mf500 HB for ages now and recently had my eye on tri-skates, I like the Powerslide Next 100 (Lavender and grey versión obv) but also tempted to go for either Powerslide zoom 80 triskate sold at decathlon, or this model (mf900) since they’re not so expensive. Very happy to come across your in depth reviews. It would be great to maybe one day see a review of the Powerslide zoom 80’s on this channel too as they’re also very affordable and feature the myfit liner... not seen many channels talk about that skate at all, wondering why as they seem great.. So do these also, I kinda wish Decathlon sold the 3 wheel mount sepperately to just stick on my old my old mf500’s Great video, happy skating :)

    Thanks for your feedback! 🙏 Oxelo are beginning to introduce more aftermarket components so perhaps the larger frames will be available to purchase at some point? The PS Zoom also look like a solid skate and I’m pretty sure it comes with a trinity frame using and adapter, which is a very nice touch.

    Thanks for doing these great vids on entry level priced skates! I actually went to the Decathlon store with my three daughters today, after watching some of your videos on the MF500/MF900 skates. I tried them out both today. I'm a beginner, but to my surprise i actually liked the feeling of the 900's better tbh...they glide with less resistance over different surfaces and i really enjoyed that. All i read so far said, triskates aren't great for beginner skaters. What's your opinion on this? Would the MF500, which i also liked, be a safer choice?

  • @RichHayterSkater

    @RichHayterSkater

    I would always recommend 4x80 for beginners, but that’s just me. Yes, the 110mm wheel will maintain its speed for longer and will require less effort to keep them moving but I feel, for beginners, it’s more difficult to learn turns, stops, transitions, etc on them because they are further from ground. This is just my view but you’ll need to go with what feels best for you. Good luck! 👍

    Just ordered a pair along with the ankle supports. Thanks for your review. It tipped me over the edge to choosing to buy. Ideally I would have opted for the PowerSlide Next with 125 wheels, but just can’t find them in my size in the UK and there £150 more expensive. If the sizing is no good it’ll be a quick trip to the nearest Decathlon for a refund.

    You chose wisely, Powerslides's are to be avoided until they fix their quality control issues, too many boots cracking and buckles breaking. Also, these Decathlon's are ideal for wider feet while Powerslides's are very, very narrow fitting often causing pain and discomfort.

Could you tell me, please, if is it possible to convert a roller MF900 in MF500, with spares parts buying in Decathlon or (cannibalised) on a MF500 roller ? Thank you very much.

    In the past, when I was young ( 90's) I had a cheap pair of skaters. Went directly fully fledged, stairs, power stops etc. Noticed that sometimes when trying to em'cy stop, the whole linear speed was being transformed into turn rotation and you can image how spectacular catapult it was. I wonder what I was doing wrong. Today, age 44 , I need to really apply proper technique if I don't want to kill myself. Your help is vastly needed! 🙂

    I'm a sure you will like them, at the end of the day they are a mildly upgraded MF500. Personally I would prefer a 243mm frame, triskates are not for beginners so the more stable 255mm frame will end up being more gimmicky than it needed to be. Personally, I am not a fan of the color scheme, all black for a stealth look would have been better (for me of course), but at least they avoided funky colors that would have made it look cheaper. The bearings... yeah, it is widely known that ABEC/ILQ ratings are industrial standards that should have no meaning on the performance of inline skates, I would not worry about them, good condition bearings are all we need. The wheels on the other hand, I have just ordered two sets of the black version and some users report a short lifespan.

  • @RichHayterSkater

    @RichHayterSkater

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your comment, you make some valid points here. I would be inclined to agree that beginners would be best to start on a 4x80, though I do feel that the added stability slightly longer frame and the increased roll speed would be welcomed. I personally think the green, black, and white gives this skate a military look, but it will be interesting to see if there is a difference in the wear rate between wheels.

  • @Sektor1

    @Sektor1

    2 жыл бұрын

    Regarding the wheels, well, they charge €20 for a set of 3... €20! What more can we ask for? Hardness ratings are known to vary a lot between brands so I don't believe these will neither be the most durable nor the least and anyway, it depends a lot on the skating style, especially what breaking techniques we use. Eager to see the full, long-term review ;)

    I tried the mf900 today and I can't recommend them, I even tried a smaller size, but my heel is still lifting and movingm Then I tried also a cheap Powerblade model, which was definitely better, the right boot was perfect, with the left one I had to put in some effort for balancing, I guess my left foot needed a slightly different frame position to mitigate this foot balancing, so I didn't buy them either. So I went home and got all in, ordering two sizes of twister XT and two sizes of Powerslide next 90 charcoal. Probably they will arrive till the end of the week. One thing I didn't pay attention to is that the charcoals come without a brake... And me, without brakes is suicide...yeah I am a noob, started a month ago
